Punjab BTech Admission 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates must note that 85% of BTech seats in Punjab are reserved for candidates within the state while 15% of BTech seats are applicable to all candidates on the All India Rank basis. BTech admissions eligibility criteria in Punjab are as follows.
Nationality:
- Aspirants must be Indian Nationals and from Punjab. 85% of the seats are reserved for students hailing from Punjab. 15% of the seats are for students from other states.
- Students from Punjab should have passed 10+1 and 10+2 from recognized institutions located in Punjab.
- Such candidates will be required to submit a certificate from the Principal / Head of the institute last attended as proof of their study in Punjab. Candidates who are Children of Defence Personnel and are posted in Punjab will be exempted from this condition. However, such candidates should have passed the 10+2 from a recognized institute located in Punjab.
Educational Qualification:
- Aspirants must have passed the 10+2 exam from a board recognized or established by the central/state government.
- They must have studied Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with one of these - Chemistry, Biotechnology, Computer Science and Biology
- Aspirants who have completed their diploma in any Engineering Trade from Punjab State Board of Technical Education & Industrial Training, Chandigarh or Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (SLIET) will be eligible to apply for Punjab BTech admissions. Aspirants who have completed any such exam from any other recognized State Board of Technical Education will be considered eligible.
- Aspirants who have completed two years certificate course from Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology, Longowal (SLIET) can also apply.
BTech (Biotechnology):
If seats are vacant after counselling, seats for this course would be filled with aspirants who have studied their 10+ 2 with Physics and Chemistry as compulsory subjects along with one of the following subjects: Mathematics, Bio-Technology, Computer Science or Biology.
Admission Entrance Exam: Admission will be based on JEE Main ranks.

Punjab BTech Counselling & Seat Allotment 2021
I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University conducts the Centralised Admission/ Counselling Process for B.Tech courses in Punjab. The counselling process involves different stages, and all the details are discussed below.
Online Fee Deposition for Counselling Process: In order to participate in the Centralised Online Counselling for BTech admission in Punjab, every candidate has to pay Rs 2,000 as a counselling fee. The counselling fee of Rs 2,000 is applicable to Round 1 & 2.
Submission of Counselling Fees:
Follow the below steps to pay the counselling fee for Punjab B.Tech admissions –
- Visit the official website, i.e., Punjab Technical University (PTU) admissions.
- On the official website, click on the button that indicates ‘Pay Online Counselling Fee’
- A registration form will be displayed on a new page
- Select the Stream (Engineering/ B.Tech – JEE Main Basis)
- Enter your JEE Main Roll Number
- Enter your Name, Father’s Name, Date of Birth, E-Mail ID, Roll Number and Verification Code.
- After entering the above details, click on the button that indicates ‘Submit’
- The candidates will receive a One Time Password (OTP) on their mobile number.
- Enter the OTP and click on the ‘Proceed’ button
- You will be directed to the counselling fee payment section now.
- The payment can be done by using a Credit Card or Debit Card or Internet Banking.
- The candidates will receive a confirmation message on their mobile or e-mail after the fee payment.
- After fee payment, the candidates must take the printout of fee receipt.
Online Registration for Counselling Process:
Candidates who have deposited the counselling fee of Rs. 2,000 are only eligible to register for the counselling process. Follow the steps below to register for Centralised Online Counselling for Punjab B.Tech admissions –
New Registration: -
- Visit the official website, i.e., Punjab Technical University (PTU) admissions.
- On the official website, click on the button that indicates ‘Apply for B.Tech’ to take part in centralised online counselling
- A new page will flash on the screen
- Select ‘B. Tech & B.Tech Fee Waiver – JEE Main Basis’ option from the drop-down menu.
- After selecting the stream or course, click on the button ‘Go’ followed by ‘Proceed’ button on the subsequent page for ‘New Registration’.
- The New Registration Form will be displayed on the screen
- Fill the details in the new registration form such as JEE Main Roll Number, JEE Main Rank, Candidate Name, Date of Birth and Green Number.
- After entering the above details, click on the button ‘Submit’.
Main Registration: -
- After New Registration, Main Registration Form will be displayed on the screen.
- Select the eligibility criteria carefully. If you are a resident of Punjab as per eligibility criteria, select Punjab State 85% Quota for Candidate of Punjab.
- Non-Punjab residents must select ‘All India Category’.
- Select Gender – Male/ Female
- Select your Main Category (Caste)
- Select your preference for Tuition Fee Waiver Scheme – Yes/ No.
- Select Rural/ Urban Status. If students wish to keep Rural Area as his/ her main category for IKGPTU, then he/she should select the main category as General and under Rural/Urban status.
- For availing Sikh Minority Benefit, the candidates must select Sikh Minority Status
- Enter the qualifying marks or percentage of Class 12
- Enter the Annual Income of the Family
- Finally, enter the Login ID (JEE Main Roll Number) and Password (should be created by the candidate)
- After entering all the above details, click on the button ‘Submit’.
- A login page will be displayed on the screen.
- Enter the Login ID and Password to take the printout of the main registration form.
- Preserve the printout of the main registration form for future reference.

In this step enter the required details and fill in their preferences of colleges and courses.
Submission of Application Form
Candidates have to fill in all the personal and educational details in the application form. Candidates must check the details before submission as they will not be able to change.
Declaration of merit list
