If your JEE Main’s score is low or below your expectations, then don’t give up so early. You still have many other options to asses.

There are a lot of candidates who cannot avail the required mark in JEE Main to get into any well-equipped engineering colleges and remain in a fix about what should be done next. Today I am here to discuss the facts that helped me to pull myself out of this dilemma.

Whether to drop a year or not?

If your JEE Main’s score is low or below your expectations, then don’t give up so early. You still have many other options to asses.

Securing at least 100 marks or even less can still leave the chance of making into any one of the private and even government institutions with good infrastructure, quality education, and faculty, etc.

Best colleges one can get with low scores:

  1. Punjab Engineering College
  2. Jaypee Institute of Information Technology
  3. Pune Institute of Computer Technology
  4. Laxmi Niwas Mittal Institute of Information Technology
  5.  BIT Mesra

Moreover, Birla Institute of Technology, Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology, Manipal Institute of Technology, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, R.V. College of Engineering. College of Engineering, VIT University, Vellore, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai, MS Ramaiah, Galgotias University & Uttaranchal Petroleum Institute also provides the chance of getting into their premises with a low score in JEE Main and sometimes require you to sit for other entrance exams before anything else.

If you have some financial limitations and have appeared in any of the state-level entrance exams like UPSEE, COMEDK UGET, KCET, MHT CET, KEAM, etc, fulfilling the prescribed eligibility criteria, you can get a dream seat in any premier government college too.

Should one wait for the subsequent counselling session?

Well, now this is only meaningful if any of the allotted candidates pulls out from the seat allocation process or surrenders his/her seat. But the whole process works a bit differently. If you are confident enough of yourself showing in the list, then definitely wait for the subsequent counselling sessions. On the other hand, you should have some options during the process being done and try enrolling in the colleges you are eligible for.

Should one attempt JEE Mains again?

Everything depends here on the candidate’s determination and confidence. According to CBSE, a candidate can appear for JEE Main up to a maximum of three times. If this was your first chance, then by analyzing your performance you can surely take another chance. However, think wisely!

Do not depend on self-study only. Go for SWOT analysis. Do take help from some mentors.

Yes, entrance tests are mandatory for admission in NIT Silchar courses. National Institute of Technology admissions are entrance-based. The scores of entrance (CAT/ MAT/ CMAT/ GATE/ IIT JAM/ JEE Mains) are considered for final seat allotment in preferred courses.
