The Bar Council of India (BCI) will conduct the All India Bar Examination (AIBE) 2026 on June 7, 2026. The BCI has released the AIBE 21 Syllabus 2026 through an official AIBE Notification 2026. The AIBE Syllabus 2026 is most important for those preparing for AIBE 21 Exam

Knowing the AIBE Exam Syllabus 2026 before beginning the preparation will increase your chances of completing the same before the AIBE 21 Exam Day. The All India Bar Exam Syllabus consists 19 subjects. Candidates must note that the duration of the AIBE 21 Exam 2026 will be 3 hours and 30 minutes. As per the AIBE 21 Exam Pattern, there will be 100 MCQ based questions. The All India Bar Examination will be conducted across 55 cities. Candidates can download the AIBE 21 Syllabus PDF below.

Note: AIBE 2026 is not an open-book exam, as students are no longer allowed to carry textbooks, notes, or any written stuff inside the exam hall. Only bare acts are allowed, provided they are without short notes/ comments.

AIBE 21 Syllabus 2026: Important Topics

While understanding the syllabus is must it is beneficial to know the top topics to read in the AIBE 21 syllabus to score well. Read the complete list below

  • Law of Contract: Learn Types of Contracts, Essentials of a Contract, Legal Rules Regarding Consideration, etc.
  • Law of Tort: Few topics to prepare are Nature and Definition of Tort, Nuisance, Defamation, Consumer Protection, Remoteness of Damages, and so on
  • Public Interest Litigation: Commonly known as PIL, it means litigation filed in a court of law for the protection of public interest. Some of the matters that candidates should be aware of include neglected children, food adulteration, atrocities on women, bonded labor, exploitation of workers, and environmental pollution. Here, candidates should also keep a track of some landmark cases and judgments taken by the Indian judiciary.  
  • Law-Related Taxation: Here, candidates should be aware of all aspects of tax law such as different types of taxes, tax reforms, etc.  
  • Intellectual Property Laws: Covers patents, trademarks, geographical indications, and Indian copyright law. 
  • Company Law: Covers various aspects of company law, including incorporation, management, and insolvency.

The BCI conducts the AIBE Exam in 11 languages. One of the language is hindi too. Hence, candidates have an option to appear for the exam in hindi too.

Yes you can appear for the All India Bar Examination even if you have not fully completed your syllabus. But only if you are a final year student with no backlogs. You can also appear if you have passed but are waiting your degree.

AIBE 2026 Exam Pattern

It is very important to understand the AIBE 21 (XXI) exam pattern 2026-27 while preparing for AIBE Exam. While the syllabus gives you an idea about the important topics as well as their weightage, the AIBE 21 Exam Pattern 2026 defines the mode of the exam, types of questions asked, marking scheme, etc. Earlier, the AIBE Exam was conducted in open-book format. However, as per the new exam pattern, candidates are allowed to carry Bare Acts without notes.

Yes, final-year and final-semester LLB students can apply for AIBE 21. Eligible students must have no backlogs and be in their final year of a 3-year or 5-year LLB course from a BCI-recognized university.

No, there is no negative marking in the All India Bar Examination (AIBE).  For each correct answer, one marks will be given. But for wrong or unattempted question no marks will be deducted.
