Seat allocation during the TANCET counselling 2026 strictly follows the formal reservation mandates laid down by the Government of Tamil Nadu. The total state matrix splits across seven distinct social classes to ensure structural transparency.
- Open Competition (OC): 31%
- Backward Classes (BC): 26.5%
- Backward Class Muslims (BCM): 3.5%
- Most Backward Class and Denotified Communities (MBC): 20%
- Scheduled Caste (SC): 15%
- SC (Arunthathiyar) (SCA): 3%
- Scheduled Tribes (ST): 1%
- A horizontal reservation of 5 per cent is applied within each category for differently abled candidates.
- Candidates who do not provide or select a specific category during application registration are automatically categorised under Open Competition (OC) rules.
- If a candidate submits an application with an invalid community certificate or a certificate issued by another state, the application is automatically processed under OC guidelines.
