IIT Hyderabad History

IIT Hyderabad was formed under the Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 by the Ministry of Education
IIT Hyderabad functioning came into effect on 18 August 2008 from a temporary campus in Armoured Vehicles Nigam Limited.

In July 2015, IIT Hyderabad permanently moved to its 600-acre campus at Kandi, Sangareddy. The campus was once a detention camp during World War II.
The architecture of the campus is closely associated with Japan, as it was set up with technical and financial assistance from the Government of Japan.

IIT Hyderabad Admission Process and Important Dates 2026

IIT Hyderabad offers various UG and PG programmes such as BTech, BDes, MTech, MSc, MA and others. The institute also offers a PhD programme in various disciplines.

The mode of the Indian Institute of Technology in Hyderabad admission is online. Also, IIT Hyderabad course admissions to its different courses depends on merit and entrance exam scores. For admission to its BTech programmes, IITH accepts the JEE Advanced scores.
