NIT Trichy: Admission, Cutoffs 2026, Fees, Courses and Ranking

Both NIT Warangal and NIT Trichy are considered good for BTech course. There are a total of 981 seats in NIT Trichy, while NIT-W has 992 seats. The total seat intake is distributed among different specialisations.

Aspirants can join BTech and BArch courses at NIT Trichy after passing Class 12. However, only Class 12 marks are not enought for admission. Candidates must also have studied relevant subjects and have JEE Main rank for admission in BTech and BArch course.

GATE Round 6 has been released for admission to the M.Tech courses. As per NIT Trichy cutoff 2023, the GATE Round 6 closing rank was 637 for General category candidates in All India quota for Computer Science & Engineering. Further, from comparing with the last two years' closing ranks, the competition has gradually increased for the current year. In the year 2021 & 2022, the last closing rank for M.Tech CSE were 753 & 653, respectively.

NIT Trichy admissions 2024 are based on GATE 2024 ranks followed by CCMT Counselling process. Candidates seeking admission to the M.Tech must appear for GATE in order to be eligible for further admission process. 

Yes, aspirants must have CAT scores for admission in MBA course of NIT Trichy. Selected candidates must also pass a personal interview round. The institute also considers academic performance and professional work experience of applicants for final selection.

NIT Trichy JEE Main cutoff 2026 for the SC All India category varied from 51 to 3615 for the BArch and all BTech course specialisations. Overall the BArch course had the lowest first round cutoff at 51. In the case of BTech course branches, the hardest course in the first round was BTech CSE, with the cutoff being 154. 

On the other hand, for the SC HS quota, round 1 cutoff ranged from 113 to 3756. According to the first round, the most competitive course for admission was BArch, followed by BTech CSE.

Yes, a student can get into NIT Trichy at 98%. For courses like BTech, MBA, & MTech, the students must have lesser percentage than this in Class 12th or in graduation. In addition to this, students must qualify the entrance tests like JEE Main,  NATA, etc. 

Admissions to NIT (National Institute of Technology), Trichy is Entrance Based for almost all of the courses. The college accepts different exam scores for different levels of courses. Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains is necessary for admissions to the undergraduate engineering programs, B.Tech which offers 8 courses and B.Arch which offers 1 course. Admissions are based on the marks scored in class 12^th or equivalent as well as the JEE (Main) examination. NIT Trichy NIRF ranking 2025 is 9th under the Engineering category,  30th under the Overall category,  33rd under the Research Institutions category, 9th under the Architecture and Planning category,  and others. In the latest rankings, the college managed to achieve a good position. 

Aspirants with a BTech degree with at least 60% aggregate can apply for M.Tech at NIT Trichy. For admission to MTech, candidates must have a valid score of GATE, which shall be equal to or higher than the cutoff. Selected candidates further are called for CCMT Counselling. Interested candidates must apply for the GATE exam and counselling within the due date.

Every year, NTA conducts the JEE Main entrance exam for the selection of eligible candidates in IIT, NIT and IIITs. The admission process for JEE Main 2026 (session 1) registrations has been completed. JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam was held from January 21 to 30, and session 2 will be held from April 2 to 9.  January 21 to 30.
