The National Law School of India University (NLSIU, Bengaluru) has started the NLSAT Registrations 2026. Candidates must note that the last date to fill out the NLSAT Application Form is March 23, 2026. Aspirants must fill the form on or before the last date. According to the official notification, the NLSAT LLB Exam Date is April 26, 2026. The National Law School of India University (NLSIU) Bengaluru conducts the NLSAT Exam for admissions into its three-year LLB course, Master’s Programme in Public Policy, PhD (Law), and PhD (Interdisciplinary) programmes.

The total seat intake for a three-year LLB at NLSIU Bangalore is 120, which will be filled based on the entrance exam - Part A and B, and the eligibility criteria for the course. What is NLSAT?

The National Law School of India (NLSIU) Bangalore introduced a three-year LLB course from the year 2023 onwards. The NLSAT (National School Law Admission Test) exam is conducted to shortlist candidates for a 3-year LLB programme at NLSIU. The entrance exam is being conducted at the national level that candidates from all over the country can take at their nearest allotted test centers.

The mode of examination is offline i.e. pen-paper-based test mode. The question paper pattern of NLSAT is divided into two parts i.e. Part A comprises 75 marks for objective-type questions, and Part B comprises 65 marks for subjective-type questions. The final selection process is based on the entrance test scores out of 140 marks, and personal interview scores out of 10 marks.

Candidates who want to apply to the NLSIU for BA LLB (Hons) and LLM programs must take the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT). However, for admissions into its three-year LLB course, Master’s Programme in Public Policy, PhD (Law), and PhD (Interdisciplinary) programmes candidates have to appear for NLSAT 2026.

NLSAT 2026 Admission Process

The admission-cum-selection process at NLSIU Bangalore through NLSAT 2026 for 3-year LLB course (NLSAT-LLB), Master’s Programme in Public Policy (NLSAT-MPP), PhD (Law) (NLSAT-P.h.D), and P.h.D (Interdisciplinary) (NLSAT-P.h.D) programmes is as under: 

  • Online Application - To apply for three-year LLB course admission at NLSIU Bangalore, candidates have to apply for NLSAT 2026 at nlsatadmissions.nls.ac.in.

They have to register, fill up the application form, and pay the requisite fee for a successful application

  • Download Admit Card - The exam authority will issue NLSAT 2026 admit cards to the applicants, so that they can appear for the exam on the scheduled date and time. The candidates can download the admit card that mentions the exam schedule, as well as an allotted exam centre where they took the exam.
  • National Level Entrance Exam - Candidates will ony be allowed to appear for NLSAT 2026 with their admit card. The exam will be pen-paper based, and will carry 140 marks for Part A MCQs based test, and Part B Subjective questions based test. The exam timings will be 10 am to 12.30.
  • Answer Key - The exam authority publishes the answer key for NLSAT 2026, which candidates can download from the official website. Moreover, candidates have to verify their responses, and raise objections if any discrepancies are found on it. To file objections on NLSAT 2026 answer key, candidates can login on the website using their application number and password. Candidates need to pay INR 1,000 for each objection raised against NLSAT 2026 answer key.

NLSAT 2026 Exam Centres

The NLSIU Bangalore will release the list of exam cities for the NLSAT exam along with the exam notification. Candidates will be given the choice to select at least three cities (nearest first) as their preferred test centre location. For this, they have to select their options in NLSAT 2026 application form. Candidates will only be allowed to select up to three NLSAT 2026 exam centres while filling up the application form.
