Q:   How many times can we appear for NEET PG?
A: 

Candidates can appear for as many times as they want. There is no cap on the number of attempts in NEET PG exam. As per the experts, candidates may appear twice for the exam to improve the score or to do away mistakes in the first attempt. NEET PG exam is held in computer-based mode. Candidates who qualify the exam with the minimum cut off can participate in the counselling process. They have to register and declare choice for college to participate in the seat allocation process.

The candidates should read the official NEET PG information bulletin to get all details about the NEET PG eligibility. We are summarising the important eligibility conditions below as mentioned in the notification:

NEET PG Educational Qualification Required

The candidate must have passed the MBBS degree from an institute recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI). They can also have a Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate at the time of admission.

Internship Cutoff Date for NEET PG 2026

The candidates must have completed the compulsory internship of 1 year on or before September 31, 2026.

Registration Certificate

The candidates applying for the NEET PG exam must also possess a valid Registration Certificate issued by the Medical Council of India (MCI) or any State Medical Council (SMC).

Q:   How many attempts are allowed in NEET PG?
A: 

NBE conducting body has not specified any limit regarding number of attempts in NEET PG exam. At same time, there is no age limit for exam. Candidates can appear as many times as they want in their prusuit of postgraduate medical courses. Candidates are advised to check official information brochure, comprising eligibility criteria and other crucial details related to exam.

Q:   What is application fee for NEET PG 2026?

Application fee and other details is released by NBE. The fee remains the same as it was last year. In 2024, the application fee was reduced by INR 750 for each category. With reduced fee, candidates had to pay INR 3500 for general category while for SC/ST candidates had to pay INR 2500. Earlier candidates had to pay INR 4200 application fee for general category. It must be noted that paying exam fee is mandatory to submit NEET PG 2026 application form. 

Q:   Will I need to upload all my Medical Qualification Certificates with the NEET PG 2026 Applications?
A: 

No, the candidates will not be required to upload all their documents with the NEET PG 2026 online application but the application form require the number and details of various documents in the application form hence it will be handy to keep them before filling the applications.

NEET PG 2026 Syllabus And Pattern

The NEET PG exam will be conducted based on the syllabus and pattern notified in the official information bulletin. The candidates will be required to read and internalise all the topics given in the information bulletin because the exam conducting authority does not provide the weightage of the topics in the syllabus and the NTA can ask any number of questions from any topic. NBEMS has made slight changes to the NEET PG exam pattern 2026 this year. The total number of NEET PG is reduced from 200 to 180. There are five sections in the NEET PG question paper, and each section will consist of 36 questions. Each section will have 42 minutes.

Q:   Will there be negative marking in the NEET PG exam?
A: 

Yes. Mark is deducted for each wrong answer in NEET PG. For each right answer, candidates get 4 marks and for each wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. As there is provision of the negative marking in exam, students are advised to answer only those questions where they feel confidence of right answer.

Q:   How many sections comprise NEET PG syllabus?
A: 

NEET PG syllabus mainly comprises three sections, Pre Clinical, Para clinical, and Clinical. Each section comprises different subjects which have to be prepared well to qualify NEET PG exam. The pre clinical subjects include anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. To cover para clinical section, candidates have to prepare subjects such as pharmacology, microbiology, pathology, forensic medicine, social and preventive medicine. Clinical part comprises subjects such as medicine, dermatology and venereology surgery, orthopaedics and anaesthesia, radiodiagnosis, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, and ophthalmology ENT.

Q:   Which part is difficult in NEET PG syllabus?
A: 

As such no section is easy in NEET PG syllabus. Some candidates may find clinical section easy while others may perceive para clinical as difficult. In reality, all the three sections clinical pre and para clinical are equally difficult and candidates have to devote good amount of time to prepare in and out of every subjects. It must be noted, a good number of questions are clinical based, so this section holds huge importance.

Some topics of pre and para clinical are utmost important as lots of questions are from them. Point is candidates should prepare all three sections in such manner so that 90 percent questions can be answered easily. Last year, clinical section was difficult in comparision to other two sections.

Q:   What information is needed for NEET PG registration for seat allotment?

Candidates need to enter all those details which were submitted while submitting NEET PG application form. Some information can be filled from admit card issued before exam. This is the reason candidates are advised to save copy of application form and admit card. Both these documents are needed at various stsges of admission process for NEET PG exam.

Q:   Who releases NEET PG Syllabus?
A: 

NEET PG syllabus comprises subject areas as per the Graduate Medical Education Regulations issued by the Medical Council of India. NBE does not prescribe the syllabus of NEET PG word by word, however, candidates may refer to the syllabus prescribed by the Medical Council of India. NEET PG syllabus mainly comprises subjects and topics which are taught in MBBS course. Overall, NEET PG syllabus can be divided into clinical, pre and para clinical subjects. NEET PG syllabus helps candidates to plan what all needs to prepare for exam.

Q:   Is there any other exam for Medical PG Courses other than NEET PG?

There is no other exam in the nation which is conducted for the Admission to the Medical PG courses or post MBBS courses but the AIIMS and some other institutions conduct their separate exam.

Q:   How difficult is the NEET PG?
A: 

NEET PG is a higher-level exam with a high level of competition. The NEET PG exam syllabus is extensive and covers all 19 subjects that a medico studies during the MBBS. The student's preparation time is also limited, and they must balance coursework and an internship.

This leaves little to no time to prepare for the NEET PG. A student works an internship at a hospital before the NEET PG exam, and the shifts are unpredictable. A lack of preparation time combined with intense competition makes NEET PG a difficult nut to crack. At the same time, it is not impossible task to score well in the exam. Candidates only need proper preparation, planning, and consistent efforts. What matters is that you believe in yourself and work towards your goal.

Q:   Who conducts NEET PG exam?
A: 

NEET PG is conducted by NBE. NBE, a premier organisation which conducts various entrance exams for medical and dental courses. NEET PG is a computer-based test, conducted at allocated centers across country.

Q:   Can I appear in regional language for NEET PG 2026 exam?
A: 

No, you cannot appear in regional language in NEET PG exam. According to the NEET PG pattern, the examination is conducted in the English language only. All aspirants must refer to the question papers of previous years for NEET PG 2026 preparation.

The examination will be held online (computer-based) at allocated centres across the country. A total of 200 multiple-choice questions will be asked in the exam and candidates will get 3.5 hours to answer them.

Q:   What is the duration of NEET PG counselling?

The duration of NEET PG counselling depends on number of vacant seats after each round. Usually, the counselling process goes on for over two months time. Each round of NEET PG counselling takes around 15-20 days time starting from registration to reporting. Initial rounds takes a bit more time than last rounds. Candidates have to register online and declare choice for college and course for seat allotment. Registration can be done on the official website. A total of 4 rounds of counselling is held for seat allotment. Based on choice declared by candidates, available seats, NEET PG rank, reservation factor etc. seats are allotted to candidates.

Q:   Where will NEET PG counselling be conducted?
A: 

The counselling of NEET PG is an online process. Thus, candidates need not to go anywhere for the counselling process. However, candidates do need to report to the institute allocated to them for confirmation of their admission. NEET PG 2025 qualified candidates will have to register on the official website, mcc. nic. in to participate in the counselling process. They also have to declare choice for college and course for seat allotment. After seat allotment, candidates will have to report to particular institute for document verification. 

Q:   What are the factors that determine cut off for NEET PG?
A: 

NEET PG cut off depends upon a number of factors including total number of candidates who appeared in NEET PG exam, number of seats available, difficulty level of examination, and previous years’ cutoffs. Students have to score minimum cut off to qualify for NEET PG exam. Cut off is released along with NEET PG result.

Q:   Will NBE send NEET PG scorecard to candidates?
A: 

No. NBE will not send NEET PG scorecard to candidates. Qualified candidates will have to download the scorecard online. They will have to login on the official website and enter registration credentials to download scorecards. The scorecard must be preserved as it will be used at various stages of admission process.

No. NEET-PG is mandatory for all MD admissions in India across all colleges, government, private, deemed, and central institutions. There is no alternative entrance exam or direct admission route for MD. Even foreign nationals of Indian origin need to qualify in the relevant entrance process.
