Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) conducted the NDA 1 2022 Mathematics paper on April 16. The exam for this paper was conducted from 10 am to 12.30 pm. The Mathematics paper carried a total of 120 questions. The total marks allotted to this paper are 300. According to the feedback provided by students, the overall difficulty level of the Mathematics paper was moderate. Students observed changes in the exam pattern of NDA 1 2023 Maths paper. Maximum questions were asked from Functions and Trigonometry. Questions in this paper were asked from Probability, Trigonometry, Algebra, Arithmetic Progression and Geometric Progression, Matrics, Circle, Calculus, Determinants, etc. There were no questions on complex numbers.
The level of Mathematics paper of NDA 1 2023 was of Class 10, 11, and 12 standards. For correct answers in the Mathematics paper, candidates will score 2.5 marks and 0.83 marks will be deducted for wrong answers.
NDA marking scheme is prescribed by UPSC. Candidates for correct answers are given 2.5 marks in Maths. 0.83 marks are deducted for wrong answers. Four marks are given for correct answers in GAT. 1.33 marks are deducted for wrong answers. Total marks allotted to the written exam are 900.
There are negative marks for wrong answers in NDA exam. 1/3 of the marks allotted to each question are deducted for the incorrect answer. There is no deduction in marks for unanswered questions.

Shiksha reported live from one of the NDA exam centres in Dwarka, where around 500 students had appeared for the exam, to gather the reactions of students regarding the difficulty level of the exam. Check below the feedback shared by the students regarding the overall difficulty of the level of the Mathematics paper.
Kritika said, "The paper was easy but time-consuming. The questions that I attempted were easy. Last year the paper was easy compared to this year paper. Maximum questions were asked from functions."
Ranveer said, "The paper was easy compared to last year. The cut off is expected to be 150. I have prepared for the exam myself. Questions were asked from Class 11 and 12 standards."
Rohit said, "The paper was moderate. Questions were asked from functions, trigonometry, Probability, Algebra, Arithmetic Progression and Geometric Progression, Matrics, Circle, Calculus, Determinants, etc"

Agnipath scheme is conducted for JCO entry whereas NDA exam is conducted for Officer entry. Agnipath scheme is restricted to the recruitment of soldiers. This is just a four-year scheme. NDA exam is conducted for permanent service commission. Therefore, NDA exam is not affected by Agneepath scheme. NDA exam is conducted by UPSC to select eligible candidates for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA and Indian Naval Academy courses. Both male and female candidates are eligible to apply for the exam. Through NDA exam, candidates are selected as Commissioned Officers in armed forces. The selection process of NDA comprises written exam and SSB interview. The written exam is conducted for 900 marks and SSB interview carries 900 marks. The final merit list is prepared out of 1800.
