Central Board of Secondary Education is going to conduct the 21st edition of the Central Teacher Eligibility Test exam on February 8, 2026. The exam will be held offline in pen and paper mode to determine the eligibility of candidates as primary and upper-primary level teachers. The board has allotted more than 230 exam centre cities across the country for the smooth conduction of the examination.

The authority will release the CTET admit card for the exam around two days before the exam date. It is important for a candidate to carry it to the examination hall. Candidates can check below the exam day guidelines and special provisions for differently-abled (PwBD) candidates.

CTET Exam Day Guidelines 2026

CTET is a qualifying exam for those candidates who want to pursue their career in teaching in central and state government schools. The authority issues instructions and guidelines that a candidate need to follow at the examination centre to hassle free entry in the examination centre. Instructions are related to the dress code, belongings need to carry and prohibited items. Also, the exam time is different for Paper 1 and Paper 2. The Paper 1 is conducted in the afternoon shift and Paper 2 is held in the morning shift. Have a look at the exam day instructions below to be followed by candidates during the conduct of the examination:

  • The examination rooms will be opened at 7:30 am for shift 1 and at 12.30 pm for shift 2, that is, two hours before the exam. This is the shift-wise reporting time for the exam.

  • Candidates should take their seats immediately after the opening of rooms.

  • A seat indicating roll number will be allotted to each candidate. Candidates should look for their roll numbers and occupy their allocated seats only.

  • Candidates who come after the commencement of the exam will now be allowed to sit in the exam.

  • No candidate, without the special permission of the invigilator, will be allowed to leave his or her seat until the paper is over.

  • Smoking, chewing gutka, spiting, having tea/ coffee/ cold drinks or snacks are not allowed inside the examination rooms.

Important Things & Documents to Carry to the CTET Exam Centre

Documents and things that candidates need to carry to the allotted CTET exam centre 2026 are given below:

  • CTET admit card: The hall ticket is a mandatory document to be carried to the test centre. Candidates not carrying their admit card on the day of the exam will not be allowed to give the paper. In case, a candidate forgets to carry his/her admit card to the centre, s/he is advised to take another printout from a nearby cyber café.

Q:   How can I check CTET exam city and date?
A:

Candidates can check the CTET exam city and date by downloading their pre-admit cards. The CBSE releases the CTET pre-admit card around 10 days before the exam. Candidates can access the CTET pre-admit card or exam city intimation slip by entering their application number and date of birth when it becomes available on the portal. On the other hand, the CTET admit card is released two days before the exam on the official website of the exam - ctet.nic.in informing the candidates about the allotted exam centre.

Q:   When should I reach the CTET exam centre?
A:

Candidates must reach the CTET exam centre as per the reporting time mentioned on their admit cards. Candidates generally need to report at the test centre 120 minutes before the examination.

  • Visit at ctet.nic.in.
  • Click on the admit card link.
  • Enter the Application number, Date of birth and Security pin.
  • Click on Submit.
  • Read the given instructions.
  • Download it.
  • Take its printout.
  • Photo ID proof: Along with the admit card, candidates must also carry a valid photo ID proof to the test centre such as a PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Passport, Driving License and Voter ID Card.
  • Ballpoint pen (blue/black) of good quality
  • Water bottle transparent (500 ml)

Things Not to Carry to the CTET Exam Centre 2026

While it is important to know the things and documents that candidates must carry to the test centre, it is equally important to be aware of the items that are prohibited inside the examination hall to avoid any unfair practices during the paper.   • Geometry/Pencil Box
  • Gold & Artificial Ornaments
  • Plastic Pouch, Pencil Pouch, Pencil, Scale, Log Table, Writing Pad, Eraser, Cardboard
  • Watch, WristWatch
  • Wallet, Handbag
  • Goggles
  • Electronics Devices- Mobile Phones, Earphone, Microphones, Cameras, Headphones, Pen-Drives, Pager, Bluetooth Device, Calculator
  • Debit/Credit Card
  • Electronic Pen/Scanners
  • Food and Beverage (Alcoholic or Non-Alcoholic)
  • Any other item which could be used as unfair means and for hiding communication devices/gadgets.

Note: Candidates suffering from diabetes are allowed to carry eatables such as sugar tablets/fruits (like banana/apple/orange). However, such candidates are not allowed to carry packed foods like chocolates/candy/sandwiches inside the exam hall.

The following instructions are applicable for the differently-abled candidates during the CTET exam:

  • Differently, abled candidates will be given a compensatory time of 50 minutes for each paper.
  • The facility of scribe/amanuensis will be allowed to candidates who have a disability of 40 per cent or more if desired by them.
  • Candidates will be allowed for opting their scribe/amanuensis and no scribe will be provided by the Centre Superintendent
  • There will be no eligibility criteria for the scribe/ amanuensis.
  • Proper seating arrangements, preferably on the ground floor, should be made before the commencement of the exam.
  • Candidates shall also be allowed to take more than one scribe for writing different papers, especially in the case of language.
  • Since the exam is being conducted online, there will not be a separate CTET question paper for Visually Impaired (VI) candidates.

Note: Differently abled candidates need to bring the disability certificate to the exam centre to avail of the above relaxations.

It is to be noted that strict rules are followed during the checking at the examination centre to maintain the integrity of the CTET exam. It is crucial for every candidate to undergo verification before entering the examination hall. The process consists of the frisking that is metal detectors, manual checks and inspection of clothing, etc.

Q:   What if I reach the CTET exam centre after the test begins?
A:
If you reach the CTET exam centre after the test begins, you will not be allowed to appear for the exam. No candidate is allowed to enter the CTET exam centre after the exam begins. It may be noted here that the CTET exam begins exactly at the time mentioned in candidates' admit cards. Candidates should reach their centres before the reporting time to avoid any hassles.
