Finance Minister of India presented the Budget 2021-22 in Lok Sabha

The finance minister of India Ms Nirmala Sitaraman presented the Budget 2020-21 in the Lok Sabha today on February 1, 2021. 6-Pillars of Indian Economy mentioned in the Budget
1.      Health and Wellbeing
2.      Physical & Financial Capital, and Infrastructure
3.      Inclusive Development for Aspirational India
4.      Reinvigorating Human Capital
5.      Innovation and R&D
6.      Minimum Government and Maximum Governance

The Finance Minister said that the disinvestment in BPCL, Air India, Shipping Corporation of India, Container Corporation of India, IDBI Bank, BEML, Pawan Hans, NeelachalIspat Nigam limited among others, would be completed in 2021-22.

In the Union Budget, the highest rise of 137% was given to the Health Expenditure. The government will also bring the Initial Public Offering (IPO) of Life Insurance Corporation.

Government of India proposed a MITRA Scheme for Make in India

Government of India through the Budget 2021-22 proposed Mega Investment Textiles Parks (MITRA) scheme to make the textile industry globally competitive to attract large investments, boost employment opportunity and export. MITRA will be launched beside the Production Linked Incentive Scheme (PLI).

15th Finance Commission presented its report for 2021-26

The 15th Finance Commission presented its report on February 1, 2021. 15th FC was headed by a former IAS officer N.K Singh. The commission was appointed in 2017 by the President of India. The Finance Commission recommended maintaining vertical devolution of 41% to the states with 1% of adjustment because of the changed status of Jammu and Kashmir from a state to Union Territory.

‘Stardust 1.0’ first bio-fuelled rocket launched in the US

World’s first commercial bio-fuelled rocket Stardust 1.0 was launched to space from Loring Commerce Centre in Main, a former United States military base. The Bio-fuelled rocket can carry a maximum payload mass of 8 kg and during its first launch carried three payloads. The rocket is manufactured by blueShift Aerospace.

Military Coup in Myanmar

Military took over the power in Myanmar. The national television in Myanmar telecasted this news. The Noble Peace Prize winner Aung San Suu Kyi was detained by the Military and put into house arrest. Nation’s most dominant political leader, Suu Kyi’s party bagged 396 out of 476 seats in the November polls, but the military holds 25% of the total seats under the 2008 military-drafted constitution.

The Union Public Service Commission will conduct the UPSC IAS Prelims 2026 exam on May 24, 2026. The Commission will release the UPSC Civil Service Prelims Exam 2026 within a week from the exam on its official website - upsc.gov.in.

Yes, the UPSC IAS Notification 2026 was postponed due to administrative reasons. The Commission had released the notification on its official website - upsc.gov.in on February 4, 2026. The last date to apply online for the Civil Service (IAS) exam was February 27.

The Union Public Service Commission will release the IAS Prelims Answer Key 2026 in May 2027. The Commission releases the official answer key after the declaration of final result.

The Union Public Service Commission notified 933 UPSC Civil Service vacancies in the official notification. The number of vacancies for IAS is 180 and for IPS it is 150. Rest of the vacancies are notified for the Central Civil Services.
