University-wise Eligibility Criteria For CUET PG 2026

CUET PG Eligibility Criteria 2026 plays a vital role for the students who wish to appear for the CUET PG exam for the academic session 2026-2027. Without satisfying the important requirements mentioned in the CUET PG 2026 eligibility criteria, a candidate will not be able to participate in the CUET PG 2026 admission process. In case after the CUET PG 2026 counselling process it is discovered that a candidate has not fulfilled the CUET PG 2026 admission requirements, then their admission may get revoked.
NTA will conduct the CUET PG 2026 exam in March 2026. The exam schedule or date sheet is expected to be released on the exam website by February 2026. Students planning to appear for the exam must start their CUET PG 2026 preparation soon to get the desired seat in the participating universities.

CUET PG Eligibility Criteria 2026

To meet the eligibility criteria to get admission in the CUET PG 2026 Courses offered, aspirants must satisfy the requirements described below. 

CUET PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit And Qualifications

According to the CUET PG 2026 information brochure, there is no age limit for the students appearing in the exam. Those who have passed the bachelor's degree/equivalent examination or are appearing in 2026, irrespective of their age, can appear for CUET PG 2026 exam. However, the students will be required to fulfil the age criteria of the University to which they are desirous of taking admission, if applicable.

CUET PG 2026 Application Correction: Steps to Change Details

  • Go to the official portal - https://exams.nta.nic.in/cuet-pg/ 
  • Click on the Sign In or the Application Correction link.
  • Log in using your User ID and Password.
  • Enter the OTP sent to the registered mobile number.
  • One can now change details in the CUET PG 2026 application form.
  • Save all the changes.
  • Take a printout of the application form for future use.

CUET PG Eligibility Criteria 2026: Nationality

To get eligible for the CUET PG Exam, aspirants must abide by the following citizenship rules:

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • A constituent subject of Nepal, Bhutan
  • A Tibetan refugee who landed in India before 1 January 1962 to make India their permanent home and reside there permanently.
  • Pakistanis, Burmese, Sri Lankans, Kenyans, Ugandans, Tanzanians, Zambians, Malawians, Zaireans, Ethiopians, and people from Vietnam who permanently moved to India.

CUET PG 2026 Eligibility Criteria: Reservations

Indian nationals belonging to certain categories are admitted under the seats reserved for them by the rules prescribed by the Government of India. However, in the case of the Central Universities, the reservation policy of the respective universities shall be applicable.

CUET PG 2026 Category-wise seat distribution

The following table shows the percentage of reserved seats of different categories:

For students claiming to the GEN-EWS category

GEN-EWS certificate, which is mentioned in the CUET PG information bulletin in Annexure-I, will be required at the time of CUET PG counselling, which should have been issued on or after April 1, 2026, in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. 

For students claiming to the OBC-NCL category

OBC-NCL certificate (Annexure-II which is mentioned in the CUET PG Bulletin) would be required at the time of counseling which should have been issued on or after April 1, 2026 in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India OBC-NCL certificate (Annexure-II) would be required at the time of counseling which should have been issued on or after April 1, 2026, in consonance with the latest guidelines of the Government of India.

For students claiming to the SC or ST category

A Scheduled Caste (for SC) or Scheduled Tribe (for ST) certificate (Annexure-III, which is mentioned in the CUET PG Brochure) would be required at the time of counsellin,g which aligns with the latest guidelines of the Government of India. 

Note-

  1. For admission in Universities through CUET (PG)-2026, the existing policies regarding quota, category, relaxation, reservations, qualification, subject combinations, preferences, etc. of the respective University shall be applicable.  
  2. As the eligibility criteria for admission may be unique for every University, the students are advised to visit the University website to which they are applying for their respective programs. 
  3.  students are advised to satisfy themselves before applying that they possess the eligibility criteria laid down by the University they are applying. 
  4.  Mere appearance in the Entrance Test or securing passing marks on the test does not entitle a candidate to be considered for admission to the Programme unless he/she fulfil the Programme-wise eligibility conditions of the University they are applying to.

CUET PG Eligibility Criteria For Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi

The following table brings the eligibility criteria for Postgraduate Science Courses at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU):

MSc Biochemistry

Bachelor's degree in Microbiology/ Zoology /Botany/Life Sciences/Biochemistry/ Genetics/ Biotechnology/Medicine/ Pharmacy/any other discipline of Biological Sciences with a minimum of 50 per cent marks (or equivalent grade) in aggregate for the general category and 45 per cent (or equivalent grade) for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students

MSc Computer Science

Following degree holders from recognised Universities with minimum score of 50 per cent marks in graduation for the general category and minimum 45 per cent marks for reserved categories are eligible: 1. BCA/BSc Computer Science/BSc IT/ B Tech Comp Engg /B Tech IT/ or equivalent.

2. BSc with Computer Science as one of the subjects at the Graduation Level.

3. Graduation with Mathematics and 12th in the Science Stream.

MSc Chemistry

BSc degree or its equivalent from a recognised University with a minimum of 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for the General category and 45 per cent or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students with Chemistry as one of the main subjects.

MSc Environmental Science

Bachelor's degree from a recognised University in any discipline of Science/ Engineering with a minimum of 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for the general category and 45 percent or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students.

MSc Statistics

An undergraduate student having a BSc/BA in Statistics/Mathematics with

1. Statistics as a subject for a minimum of two years in the annual system or

2. Have a minimum of 4 papers from core Statistics as prescribed in the model curriculum of UGC in the semester system, and should have a minimum of 50 per cent marks in the graduation, provided that the candidate has 45 per cent or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students.

MSc Physics

BE/B Tech or BSc Degree with Physics as one of the subjects from a recognised University with a minimum of 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for the general category and 45 per cent marks or equivalent grade for SC / ST / OBC / PWD / EWS students.

MSc Mathematics

BSc degree in Mathematics from a recognised university with minimum 50 per cent marks or equivalent grade for the General category, and 45 per cent marks or equivalent grade for SC/ST/OBC/PWD/EWS students.

BSc Degree with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate and also for science subjects, with Chemistry as the main or one of the main subjects (studied in 10+2+3 system). The student must have Physics and Mathematics at the 10+2 Level.
MSc Statistics A Bachelor's degree in Mathematics with a minimum of 55 per cent marks or equivalent grade in aggregate for General Category /EWS and 50 per cent or equivalent grade in aggregate for SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/ PWD. The student should have studied Statistics/ Mathematics in all three years of Bachelor's degree.
MSc Environmental Sciences Bachelor's degree in Science/ Engineering / Technology in Environmental Sciences and its allied subjects, such as Agricultural
