Absolutely the best college with a tag as NITian, good placement and a bright future in every field.

Placements: Well, I'm from the mining department, and to be honest, among all NITs and IITs, NIT Rourkela offered the best facility and placement for mining engineering, due to the available mines in Odisha. 98% of our seniors got placed in various companies like Coal India, Hindustan Petroleum and other mining industries. Many also learn coding and finance to get a placement in the desired companies. The highest was 45 LPA, and the lowest was 5 LPA, with an average of 11 LPA. NIT Rourkela offered an outstanding base for mining engineering. Roles like mining designer, etc., are also offered.

Infrastructure: Literally, you will get everything in the hostel, from free Wi-Fi to a gym, everything is available. Facilities like a central library, swimming pool, gym in both campus and hostel, computer labs, free Wi-Fi, an outstanding building with stunning classrooms, smart boards, and AC. Study room, TV room, dining room, game arena, TT court, badminton court, basketball court, hockey court, chess, and Uno, everything is easily accessible and for everyone to use. A temple, hospital, free checkup, sports complex, many canteens and a food court are available.

Faculty: As the 2nd best NIT, I can confirm that the curriculum, strict courses, and teachers are all qualified and help you to your best. Teachers also focus on the mental health of the students. Each students get assigned a faculty advisor for their helpful needs. The study here is so peaceful and really good. Although semester exams are too strict and hard, the attendance policy is 85% compulsory.

Other: Well, with my JEE marks, I was assigned this branch, though it was not my dream one, but still it's so good with a helpful senior, nice teacher and freedom in this course. I wish to learn more from my branch. The fests and events here are literally the best among all. The biggest fests of East India are organised by NIT Rourkela too. The campus is vibrant and beautiful. The crowd is organised and don't stand out a lot. You can get a lot of scholarships due to the big name of NIT Rourkela. Every facility, like tech, dance, music, design, and sports, is present.

Good campus life along with good placements.

Placements: Almost all students got placed by the end of the year. The highest package was in the software domain, and in core, Vedanta provided the highest package. Major recruiters are Tata Steel, Vedanta, JSW, Orica, Aditya Birla Group, IMFA, etc. The roles provided are mostly GET and MT.

Infrastructure: All the classrooms are fully digitalized, with all types of laboratories ranging from mechanics to software. All the classrooms have Wi-Fi. There is a central library which covers everything one is in need of. Hostel rooms are good, with bed, table, and chair. The quality of food in the mess is good. There is a dispensary where you can get health treatment.

Faculty: All the faculty members are highly qualified. They are very supportive and helpful throughout the entire B.Tech. Every batch is assigned a faculty advisor who guides us throughout. The course curriculum is beautifully designed, covering the syllabus of the GATE examination.

It has really good infrastructure, facilities, and placements but average faculty.

Placements: About 90% of students from the last academic year (2024-2025) got placed. The top recruiting companies of our course are Vedanta and Tata Steel. The top role offered in our course is assistant manager. Most students do research internships at IITs, and only 3-4 students get internships at some large companies like Tata Steel. The highest package is 35 LPA, and the lowest package is 6 LPA. The average package ranges from 10-12 LPA.

Infrastructure: Classrooms are built to a good standard. Each room is supported with both digital boards and traditional blackboards. Air conditioning is installed in each classroom. Laboratories may have limited equipment, but it is sufficient for conducting experiments. There is a central library for all college students. Hostel facilities are well-maintained and hygienic. Each room accommodates 2 students and has LAN connectivity. The quality of food at the mess is just manageable. One or two canteens are available in each hostel. Medical facilities are excellent. The campus provides enough space for sports and games.

Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable and qualified. Some teachers are helpful and some are not. Most teachers just display presentations on whiteboards. The course curriculum is relevant. 2-3 industry-level projects are done by students during the course. The difficulty level of exams depends completely on professors. Except for 1-2 students, all students pass exams.

Other: The placement rate of this course is high, so I chose it. Some years had 100% placements as well. More practical knowledge could be included in the course. Almost every month has some events or fests scheduled. There is a great connectivity by government bus services to the main city, the railway station, and the bus stand. Tuition fees can be reduced to 0 with a proper income certificate.

NIT Rourkela tier 1 College is not less than a paradise.

Placements: In our college, the mining department has 100% placements this year. The total job offers are 39. The lowest package is 5.50 LPA. The highest is 27.60 LPA. The average is 11.75 LPA. The median is 10 LPA. Top recruiters are Accenture, Amazon, Reliance, Capgemini, Deloitte, etc. Top roles offered are software development, testing, and engineering from the perspective of college.

Infrastructure: There is a hall to stay. It has everything. It is the best. Wi-Fi is available along with washing machines in each wing. There is a study room, music room, and a TV room in our hostel. There is Biju Patnaik Central Library in our college. Everything is top-notch here. Medical facilities are connected to Apollo Hospital for treatment. We have sports facilities here.

Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and helpful. They teach very well. The course is relevant which makes students ready for industry. The exam level is very good. We have to study a lot to clear exams. The pass percentage is less because their level as I told is very good but it makes us focus on our studies.

Other: This college is a NIT tier 1. Everything is top-notch so no doubt to join. It can improve my personal as well as professional development such as social debate, communication skills, etc.

NIT Rourkela: One of the best engineering colleges.

Placements: Most probably from the 3rd year, you are eligible for campus placement and many companies like Google, Infosys, TCS, Amazon, and Reliance visit NIT Rourkela. The highest package this year, which is 1.2 crore, is from the Electronics and Communication branch. The average package of NIT Rourkela is around 11 to 12 LPA, and 90% of students get placed in NIT Rourkela. In most of the cases, the non-placed students opt for higher studies and that’s the reason they did not go for placement.

Infrastructure: In the first year, you may feel that many subjects are not important for your core field or branch, but you may get help from those subjects later in your life. The curriculum at NIT Rourkela is very good, and the course will help you to know other branches also. The hostel is very big, but the rooms may feel small for two people. The mess food is good, with a 7-day, 7-different menu. The gym and sports facilities are also good, as they are present in the hostel, and the medical facilities are also good.

Faculty: All the faculty members are very good and try to reach every student and help them. After teaching, they try to ask each and every student whether they have understood or not. The classrooms are big and well-accustomed. In every semester, you will have two exams: one mid-semester exam, which is of 30 marks, and another end-semester exam, which will consist of 50 marks and the rest 20 marks will be the TA marks, which will be given by the faculty members based on your class performance. The passing marks in the semester are 5 CGPA.

Other: My course, B. Tech in Mining Engineering is a good course with 57 students in my batch, and mining is one of the important core sectors. In NIT Rourkela, there is almost 100% placement in many engineering branches, and the average package lies between 10 to 12 LPA. There are many events and fests in NIT Rourkela, and they are organized very well. There are several cultural clubs that you can join based on your hobby or interest. The campus is fully lush green, with lots of trees and happiness.
