The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), established in 1958 (65 years ago), has the motto Knowledge is the Supreme Goal. It is a public research university and technical institute in Powai, Mumbai. The IITs were designated as Institutes of National Importance by Parliament in 1961. Popularly known as one of the best engineering universities in India, it is marked as the second-top institute ranked at 172 in the QS World University Rankings 2022 and third in the NIRF 2022 among the top 100 engineering institutes in the country.

Yes, BDes is available at IIT Bombay. It is a four-year full-time course spread across eight semester. IIT Bombay offers BDes through IDC School of Design at the UG level. It also offers five-year integrated BDes + MDes programme spread across 10 semesters. The option of doing a dual degree, is available at the end of third year. Candidates who have completed Class 12 can apply for IIT Bombay BDes courses.

IIT Bombay offers MBA for a duration of two years divided into four semesters. The institute offers MBA through Shailesh J. Mehta School of Management (SJMSOM). The selection for the candidates for MBA admission will be carried out in two phases.

  • Aspirants will be shortlisted for a personal interview round based on CAT scores.
  • The final selection will be based on the candidate’s composite score of different parameters, including CAT score, academic performance and work experience.

Gymkhana:

The students' Gymkhana is an organisation that promotes and develops all student events at the Institute, along with its infrastructure. It seeks to encourage and advance students' organisational skills. Over the years, it has been effective in developing a knowledgeable, articulate, and active student community. It has been helpful in identifying student problems and encouraging conversation about them. It serves as the headquarters for all student elections and nominations for gymkhana activities.

Moreover, among all engineering colleges in India, IIT Bombay has the best cultural scene (or "cult"). Aside from hosting India's largest college festival, Mood Indigo, they have an active intra-college scene, with genre-specific clubs and plenty of hostel- and institution-level events throughout the year. It includes 10 genres: music, fine arts, speaking and debating, literary arts, dance, dramatic arts, film and media, design, and lifestyle.
