The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay (IIT Bombay), established in 1958 (65 years ago), has the motto Knowledge is the Supreme Goal. It is a public research university and technical institute in Powai, Mumbai. The IITs were designated as Institutes of National Importance by Parliament in 1961.
