The University is yet to release the 2024 placement data. Earlier, out of all the UG courses, the highest number of students were placed in BTech. On the other hand, PG (2-year) courses recorded the highest number of students placed during 2023 placements. The eligibility criteria for the Faculty of Law at Calcutta University, apart from national-level entrance exams, include the following:
Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 45% marks in the best four subjects at the 10+2 level from a board recognized by the University of Calcutta. For SC/ST/persons with disabilities (disability 40% or more), a minimum of 40% marks in the best four subjects is required, excluding environmental studies of WBCHSE.

If you can get admission to Calcutta University with a rank of 7K will depend entirely on the category you belong to. For the General AI category, admissions are not possible since the overall Calcutta University WBJEE cutoff 2025 ranged from 545 to 5256.

Yes, University of Calcutta is a good university. Calcutta University has been ranked 18 under the 'University' category,  26 under the 'Overall' category by the NIRF Ranking 2024. The University of Calcutta is also ranked 751-760 by the QS World University Rankings 2025. The university is also ranked 4th under the State Public University category by NIRF 2024. The placements of the university are also very good.
