2: IIT Kharagpur University Admission Criteria 2026 & Release of Merit List
The institute shortlists candidates for admission based on their entrance exam scores. IIT Kharagpur accepts JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced for its flagship BTech course. Any student who leaves an academic program at IIT Kharagpur after the specified date, is covered by a five-tier refund policy. IIT Kharagpur JEE Advanced cutoff 2025 has been released for round 3. The cutoff was released category-wise for students seeking admission to the BTech/Integrated BTech/BSc specialisations at the college. For candidates belonging to the General AI category, the cutoff ranks varied between 450 and 18182. The selection of candidates for admission to the MBA programme at VGSoM (IIT Kharagpur) is a two-step procedure. Applicants, who are shortlisted based on the eligibility criteria are called for WAT and online Personal Interview (PI). Final admission to the MBA programme is then offered on the basis of a cumulative score of the application rating (AR), performance score in CAT, and the candidate's performance in the WAT and online PI process.
For admission to MBA at VGSOM (IIT Kharagpur), candidates need to qualify CAT followed by WAT and personal interview round. The minimum CAT percentile required is 90 for general category students. For NC-OBC and SC/ ST/ PwD the minimum CAT percentile required is 80 and 75 respectively.

Yes, 50% aggregate is a decent accepted score for IIT Kharagpur admissions but this 50% does not mean that the student will get the admission as scores in entrance exams are quite important.
