The eligibility criteria for M.Tech programmes at IIT Mandi and IIT Roorkee are similar in many aspects. Both require candidates to have a B.Tech or B.E degree in a relevant field, with a minimum qualifying percentage of 60% or 6.5 CGPA (out of 10) or equivalent for general and OBC candidates, and 55% or 6.0 CGPA (out of 10) or equivalent for SC/ST and PwD candidates. The application fee for boys is INR 625 and INR 325 for girls. Followed by JEE Main, students are required to register for JEE Advanced. For this, candidates have to first login with their JEE Main application number and password. Next, candidates have to fill in the registration form, upload scanned certificates, and pay the application fee.

IIT Roorkee has 10 boy hostels, 3 girl hostels, and 6 hostels for married candidates. The campus has a new co-ed hostel, Vigyan Kunj. Hostels may accommodate Undergraduate and Postgraduate students, along with doctoral students. All the hostels have basic amenities like a cyber cafe, gym, Wi-Fi, water purifiers, common room, recreation room, mess, TV, laundry services, security and surveillance systems, etc. Students are assigned to hostels by the school administration after their freshman year. The hostels at IIT Roorkee are called Bhawans. Each Bhawan has a mess. Mess administration consists of a staff advisory, a chief advisory, and a student mess secretary. IIT Roorkee Cutoff 2024 was concluded for admission to BTech/BArch/BSc/Integrated BTech/Integrated BSc courses at IIT Roorkee. The last round cutoff was released in the form of Opening and Closing Cutoff ranks for different categories under the AI quota. The last-round closing ranks for the General AI category ranged between 481 and 19885. The toughest course to get into the college was BTech in CSE; and the least difficult among all the courses was BArch.

For the OBC AI category candidates, the last-round cutoff ranged between 236 and 6973. The toughest course for the OBC AI was also BTech in CSE and the easiest one was BArch.
