The admission process for NIT Meghalaya 2025 is entirely based on the candidate's performance in the entrance exam, PI, written test, etc. Candidates are required to first qualify for the eligibility criteria of the courses they are interested in and apply online for the programme. The JEE Advanced 2025 official website has launched with the new eligibility criteria. Step 1: NIT Meghalaya Application Process
Candidates seeking admission in BTech, MTech, and MSc at NIT Meghalaya are required to complete the application form for the course-specific entrance exam. After appearing for the respective entrance exams, candidates have to apply for the counselling process for the final seat allotment. For the PhD and also MTech candidates must apply via NIT Meghalaya's official website and appear for the institution-based written test and personal interview.
Step 2: Selection Rounds
For its flagship BTech course, NIT Meghalaya selects students with a valid JEE Main score. Candidates are allotted seats through JoSAA Counselling. Selection for MTech is made through GATE, followed by CCMT Counselling. Similarly, for MSc admission, IIT JAM and CCMN Counselling are required. However, for PhD, both full-time and part-time selection is made through the institution-based written test and personal interview.
Step 3: Release of Cutoff list, Counselling & Admission Confirmation
The cutoff for BTech, MTech, and MSc courses is released by the respective counselling bodies. The shortlisted candidates are then required to pay the admission fee to confirm their seats. To get an M.Tech seat at NIT Meghalaya, students must follow the below-mentioned steps:
1. Check the eligibility criteria. Only those who meet the eligibility criteria are considered for the selection process.
2. If eligible, apply for the GATE exam.
3. After the exam results, participate in the subsequent counselling process.
4. If allocated a seat, report to the institute for verification of documents.

The 2023 cutoff for BTech in Computer Science and Engineering was 25978, which was the least competetive specialisations offered by NIT Nagaland. The cutoff for the year 2022 was 17921 and for the year 2021 it was 24041. As per the date it concludes that cutoff for 2023 is higher compare to the previous two years, which indicates the rise in demand of the CSE course.
NIT Meghalaya offers various specialisations under its M.Tech programme. Some of the specialisations are Computer Science & Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering. The distribution of seats among all specialisations is equal. Under each specialisation, the institute offers 25 seats each. The NIT Meghalaya M.Tech course admission is subject to the fulfilment of eligibility and selection criteria. As per official sources, to be eligible, candidates must have passed a BE/BTech degree in a relevant discipline with a 6.5 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 60% aggregate for Gen/Gen-EWS/OBC, whereas 6.0 CGPA (on a 10-point scale) or 55% aggregate for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Further, they must also have appeared for the GATE exam and participate in the CCMT counselling process. Those who do not have a valid GATE score or have not been able to get a seat via CCMT can participate in the institute-level selection process. In this process, students are evaluated based on the institute-level entrance test and PI round.
