No, BTech programme isn't free at NIT Meghalaya . Candidates seeking to get admission are required to pay the tuition fee which ranges between INR 5 lakh - 5.3 lakh, the fees exclude of Eamination Fee of the Semester Registration Fee,  Library Fee,  Laboratory Fee, Internet Fee, etc. However NIT Sikkim does have scholarship schemes for students. JEE Main exam dates for BTech programme for admission to NIT Meghalaya is scheduled on Jan 24, which is tentative. As per the exam pattern of JEE Mains, the exam is conducted online as a Computer Based Test. JEE Main 2024 will have three papers, Paper 1 for admission to BE/BTech course, Paper 2A for BArch admission and Paper 2B for BPlan course admission. The duration of the JEE Main exam is three hours and has Multiple Choice (MCQ) and Integer Value (Numerical Value Answer) type questions. JEE Main 2024 Paper 1 will have a total of 90 questions while Paper 2A and 2B have 82 and 105 questions respectively.

The cutoff trend for B.Tech at NIT Meghalaya has been increasing in the recent years. In 2022, the closing rank for B.Tech. under general category for all India quota was 18501. In 2023, it increased to 19175. Likewise, the cut off ranks have changed from
24759 to 6137 for OBC 68411 to 3133 for SC 640 to 1025 for ST 2843 to 3077 for EWS. This trend is likely to continue in the coming years, as the demand for engineering education in India continues to grow.
