NIT Nagaland MSc Courses & Fees 2025: Admission Dates, Placements & Seats

NIT  Nagaland is among the newly established NITs in the northeast region. It managed to secure 201-250 band under Engineering category. As for its placement,   NIT Nagaland hasn't released the 2023 placement report. However, its previous year's placement was very decent. The the highest and mean package offered during NIT Nagaland placements 2022 stood at INR 45 LPA and  INR 8.09 LPA, respectively. Further, the top recruiters during NIT Nagaland placements 2022 included TCS, Deloitte and Infosys. Apart from this, according to NIT Nagaland NIRF report 2023, the median package offered during NIT Nagaland BTech and MTech placements 2022 stood at INR 9 LPA and INR 10.05 LPA, respectively.

Direct admission is not offered for MSc at NIT Nagaland. Admission to MSc is based on the JAM scores followed by CCMN counselling. However, the institute conducts entrance exam to fill the vacant seats after CCMN counselling. Further, before applying for the MSc programme, candidates must qualify for the course-wise eligibility criteria.

Yes, MSc is available in NIT Nagaland. The programme is offered at a full-time mode. The MSc at NIT Nagaland is offered in a full-time mode that lasts for two years. The course curriculum is spread across four semesters. The MSc course is only offered in two major specialisations: Physics and Chemistry. 

NITNagaland offeres two years full-time MSc progarmme especially for the graduate students to pursue their studies in the fields of science. However, candidates are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria laid down by the institution, which are as follows:

Yes, NIT Nagaland does offers MSc at postgraduate level. The MSc specialisation offered are in Physics and Chemistry at NIT Nagaland. Admission to the MSc programme is based on candidates performance in the qualifying exam i.e. bacheloir’s degree in BSc. The placement rate at the National Institute of Technology Nagaland (NIT Nagaland) is high. The average package offered in 2022 was INR 8.09 LPA.In 2022, the highest pay offered was INR 45 LPA.

NIT Nagaland offers specialisations in UG, PG and PhD level. Programmes such as Mechanical Engineering, CSE, Civil Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering and more are offered in full-time mode on the basis of merit and entrance. Candidates qualifying the entrance exams and securing scores within the cutoff limit are shortlisted for further consideration. For NIT Nagaland BTech, candidates must secure a 75% in Class 12. Whereas, for courses such as MSc and MTech, candidates must secure 60% in graduation. NIT Nagaland considers JEE Main, IIT JAM, CCMN, GATE, CCMT, UGC NET etc. to shortlist candidates for admission.

NIT Nagaland has a sanction of around 200 seats for admission in BTech programme. For admission at MSc, NIT Nagaland offers 20 seats with two specialisations and 2 years of course duration. The Institute offers 66 seats for admission at MTech including the 4 specialisations within the programme. The Institute also offers PhD in various specialisations along side the UG and PG level programmes. 

National Institute of Technology Nagaland offers Btech in Mechanical Engineering, CSE, Civil Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering, and Electrical and Electronics Engineering as a full-time 4 year programmes. 

The Institute offers MSc with two specialisations i.e MSc in Physics and MSc in Chemistry. 

NIT Nagaland MTech is available with specialisations such as Computer Science and Engineering, VLSI Systems, Power Systems Engineering, Communication Engineering as a 2 year full-time programme.

NIT Nagaland offers Computer Science and Engineering and Mechanical Engineering as 2 seperate specialisations, available as a 3 years PhD programme.

NIT Nagaland offers BTech, M.Tech MSc and PhD programme. Candidates who have twelve years of school education with 75% aggregate and a valid JEE Main scores are eligible for the BTech course. For the MTech, candidates who have a Bachelor's Degree in any stream and a valid scorein the GATE score. Also candidates with a bachelor's degree in Science and IIT Jam score are eligible for the MSc programe. And finally for the PhD candidates must have master's degree  in Engineering or Technology, a valid GATE/JRF/ UGC NET/ CSIR NET score.

To get into NIT Nagaland, candidate must attain the rank as per the cutoff list released. As per the round 4 of the cutoff list,   the cutoff ranks among the General AI category candidates varied between 36109 and 57538. Therefore, to get admission to NIT Nagaland, candidate must have a rank of atleast 57538.

NIT Nagaland JEE Main cutoff 2025 has been released for round 1. The cutoff was released for candidates belonging to the All India quota. Among the General AI category candidates, the closing ranks in round 1 varied between 32418 and 52097. Among the OBC AI category candidates, the cutoff ranks varied between 10142 and 15994.
