What is SEED?
Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) is a design aptitude test conducted by the Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). Candidates who qualify in the SEED appear in a Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round. The merit list of SID will be prepared by considering the cumulative performance of the written exam, PRPI, and Personal Interaction. The SEED exam evaluates candidates on parameters like color, geometry, visual observations, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, and awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions, etc.

SEED 2026 Result
SEED Result for B.Des was declared on March 25, 2026 and declaration of SEED Shortlist for PRPI was on March 28, 2026. The first merit list of SEED 2026 B.Des and M.Des was released on April 21, 2026.

SEED 2026 Admit Card
The Symbiosis Institute of Design released the Admit card of SEED 2026 on January 05, 2026 for Round 1 and March 18, 2026 for Round 2. The admit card has to be produced to take the exam. If the candidate doesn't produce the admit card, they will be stopped from taking the exam.

SEED 2026 Exam Pattern, Syllabus & Preparation
As per the official website, the candidates have to appear for the SEED 2026 exam, and those qualifying for the exam will be shortlisted for portfolio review and personal interaction rounds. The exam pattern for SEED 2026 will be such that aspirants have to attempt 60 multiple-choice questions. All the process of the SEED Entrance Exam will be held in a computer-based mode.

SEED Preparation
SEED is unlike other entrance exams in that it is conducted in a remote-proctored mode. Here, we discuss some easy-to-follow tips for SEED preparation 2026.
- Make SEED preparation 2026 strategy considering the syllabus. For instance, you need to allocate more time for difficult topics, spare time for revision, and include SEED sample papers and SEED mock tests.
- Pick the best design aptitude test books. The aim should be to score well in SEED.
- Focus on your time management skills and improve your problem-solving skills, especially for the DAT sections. Solve sample papers and practice mock tests.

SEED 2026 Eligibility Criteria & Application Form
Symbiosis Institute of Design released the eligibility criteria of SEED 2026 for admission to the B.Des and M.Des program. The candidate must ensure they meet the prescribed eligibility criteria, because otherwise, the candidate can be disqualified at any stage of the admission process.
SEED Eligibility Criteria 2026 for B.Des
- Cleared Class 12 (from any stream, e.g., Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or equivalent (Or)
- Cleared 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes).
SEED Eligibility Criteria 2026 for M.Des
- Bachelor’s Degree of minimum 4-year duration in any specialization, after 12th standard or equivalent to the 12th standard from any university or institute recognised by law in India.
- Full-time Diploma of minimum 4-year duration in Design/Fine Arts/Applied Arts/ Architecture, after 12th standard or equivalent to 12th standard, from any university or institute recognised by law in India. With a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent grade (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribes).

SEED Application has been closed for B.Des and M.Des. Application form for SEED 2026 had to be filled out online.
How to fill out the SEED 2026 Application Form?
- In the registration form, enter details like email ID and mobile number to get registered. On successful registration, an applicant account will be created.
- Fill in your personal, academic, and contact details. Also, select the SEED Test Centre preference.
- After the application fee is completed in all respects, pay exam fee of INR 3,250. The fee has to be paid online using net banking, credit and debit cards.
- After ensuring that the application is complete in all respects, submit it.

SEED 2026 Entrance Exam - FAQs

"On completion of the M.Des programme, you can kickstart your career as an Interface Designer, UX Architect, UX Designer, Web Designer, Mobile Application Interface Designer, Game Designer, Interaction Designer, Service Designer and so on.

SEED 2026 Application is out for the B.Des Programme. The Application was started on August 01, 2025, and was open till November 30, 2025.
The Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) is a national level entrance exam conducted by Symbiosis International University. The exam is conducted once a year. The SEED exam is conducted as a home-proctored exam that candidates can take from the comfort of their home. The scores of the exam are considering for admission to the B.Desprogrammeoffered by participating colleges.
The application form for SEED 2024 will open around the 1st week of September 2023.
Candidates have to upload a digital portfolio as part of admission process at SID. It must be candidate’s best works that show skills, passion and interest in a variety of areas and techniques. When uploading portfolio, candidate must follow rules and guidelines issued.
SEED Portfolio must contain
- Sketches, mixed media illustrations and digital work
- Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
- Photography
- 3D objects like sculpture, fabric products, gadgets, art inspired products etc.
The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) released the first merit list on April 21, 2026.
To download the merit list, the candidate will have to log in to the result portal using their B.Des ID and password.
The merit list will include the merit rank of the candidate and the seat allotment status. Candidates who are included in the merit list will have to get registered for the programme and pay the fee on or before the last date.
The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) conducted mock tests for the SEED 2026 exam on January 07, 2026. Mock tests were hosted online at the SID admission portal - sid.edu.in.
As per information on SID website, the institute does not promote or is aware of any coaching classes/preparatory classes. So, the candidate can decide whether they want to join any coaching institute or not. Note that there are many coaching institutes that offer preparation classes for exams like NIFT, NID DAT, etc.
Candidates can also download online study material after paying charges.

The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) will release the updated syllabus for the SEED 2026 exam on its official portal at the time of release of the application form or sometime thereafter. The candidate can download the syllabus online at - sid.edu.in. The SEED 2026 syllabus will contain the topics that the candidate needs to prepare for the SEED 2026 entrance exam.
It is recommended that the candidate only follows the official syllabus and not those released by unofficial sources. It is because questions will be asked from the official syllabus only. Also, unofficial sites may contain error-prone and misleading information.
SID doesn't offer any short term / distance courses. The institute presently offers only full time Under- Graduate degree courses.
At the UG level, the institute offers a regular B.Des program, while a hybrid M.Des program is offered at the PG level.
Admission to both courses will be through the SEED 2026 entrance exam.
The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) conducted the SEED 2026 written exam on January 11, 2026.
SEED exam will be of 1 hour duration (to be conducted between 10 am to 4 pm). The exam slot allocated to the candidate will be mentioned in the admit card.
On exam day, the candidate has to be ready an hour so before the exam to ensure all pre-exam formalites are comleted on time. The SEED exam will be being conducted in an online proctored mode.
Candidates who are allotted seats will have to pay seat-acceptance fee within the given deadline. If the payment is not made, allotment will be cancelled. Vacant seat will be offered to the candidate next in the order of merit. Also, there is no option to make a partial payment.
SEED 2026 exam will be conducted online for all programmes. There will be no offline exam centre. You can give exam from your home, but you should have proper internet connection.
Candidates are not required to submit an elementary drawing exam certificate for the Admission Procedure at SID. The candidate merely needs to meet the academic, qualifting exam, and age criteria. Eligible candidate next needs to appear in the SEED 2026. Those qualifying in the exam will have to next appear in a PRPI round. The final results would be prepared by giving weightage to the SEED 2026 exam and the PRPI.
