What is DigiLocker in GATE 2027

DigiLocker account is an online wallet required to store official digital certificates and documents, such as Aadhar card, PAN Card, Driving License, Voter ID, Marksheets, etc. Provided by the Government of India, it enables to keep your files safe in the cloud. For GATE 2027 exam, DigiLocker is a mandatory digital verification tool that allows Indian applicants to link their verified DigiLocker account while filling GATE application form 2027. At the time of registration, it will automatically fetch your official personal data like name, date of birth, photo ID, etc. for smooth registration process.

Q:   How many exam centres can I choose while filling the GATE application form?

Candidates can choose at least three exam centres while filling their GATE 2026 application form. The list of GATE exam cities (zone-wise) is available on the website. Besides that, it has to be noted that the three centres must be from the same zone. Thus, based on the availability, the centre will be allotted to the candidate for appearing the GATE 2026 exam. 

Q:   Is the GATE 2027 application form fees revised?
A: 

No, the GATE application form fees remain the same. The fee is available category-wise for two timelines: without and with late fees. 

Q:   What is the GATE registration last date?
A: 

GATE 2027 application form will be released on August 14, 2026. The last date to apply with no late fee is September 21, and with late fee is September 30.

Q:   Is the GATE 2027 registration fee refundable?
A: 

The GATE application fee is non-refundable. Candidates must make their fee payment as per their category. 

GATE 2027 Registration: What to be before GOAPS Portal Opens

According to the GATE 2027 exam dates, before the application form is released at GOAPS, candidates need to ensure that they have done the following:

Create an account

Set up an account or update your profile on the official DigiLocker portal before filling the form

Check Details

Make sure that all your details, such as name, date of birth, etc. match with your photo ID

Link Your Account during GATE Registration

Select the DigiLocker option on the GATE application form page and allow it to share verified details

How to Create DigiLocker Account for GATE 2027 Registration

To create DigiLocker ID for GATE 2027, follow steps mentioned below:

  • Go to official website: https://www.digilocker.gov.in/

  • Now, click on “Login/Register” link on top corner

  • Enter mobile number and continue

  • Now, enter Aadhar Number and proceed for next step

  • Enter 6-digit security pin and get it verified

  • Once the verification is complete, your Aadhar card will be displayed on screen

According to the latest GATE 2027 update by IIT Madras, registration through DigiLocker is mandatory for all Indian Nationals. The following details will be required from DigiLocker for GATE registration 2027:

  • Name

  • Date of Birth

What is Profile Picture in DigiLocker GATE 2027 Registration

The profile picture in GATE DigiLocker 2027 is the official photograph that is directly fetched from your verified Aadhar ID or DigiLocker profile.

Many candidates might be confused between GATE 2027 facial registration and profile picture update from DigiLocker. Candidates must note that both are different. 

  • GATE facial registration is the live photo uploading/authentication done at the time of registration. Applicants have to provide live facial details while filling GATE application form.

  • While the profile picture is the one that is fetched from the DigiLocker account. 

  • It is not necessary that both photos must match. Also, the photo difference from DigiLocker and Photo upload will not get your form rejected.
