How many students qualified for the GATE exam: IIT Roorkee has released the list of the number of candidates registered, who appeared, and who qualified for the GATE 2025 exam. The GATE 2025 result link was activated on March 19, 2025, along with the results. The GATE 2025 exam statistics are now available on the official website - gate2025.iitr.ac.in. The authorities have also issued the GATE 2025 branch-wise candidates' qualified and appeared list. The GATE 2025 statistical and performance report is now available. Read below for more.

This year, 936019 candidates had registered for the exam, out of which 747319 candidates had appeared for the GATE 2025 exam.
IIT Roorkee offers BTech specialisations on the basis of JEE Advanced scores. The cutoff depends on a few factors such as category and gender. However, to get an overall idea of the cutoff trend at the institute, candidates can check the table below. The table consists of the branch-wise last round closing ranks for General AI category candidates:
JEE Advanced Cutoff 2025 for BTech course ranged from 126 to 5733 for students in the General AI category, so therefore a student should attain a rank of 5733 or preferably lower to increase their chances of admission to IIT Delhi. Please note that BTech cutoff 2025 will vary according to different rounds, courses, specialisations and categories. IISC Bangalore accepts JEE Main score for BTech admission 2024. The university has different admission criteria as per course requirement. IISc Bangalore offers a four-year BTech in Mathematics and Computing divided into eight semesters. The course is divided into two parts, i.e., Core Courses and Soft Core Courses.
Candidates must pass a bachelor's degree with at least 60% aggregate (55% aggregate in case of aspirants belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category) or a minimum CPI of 6.5 (6 in case of aspirants belonging to SC/ ST/ PwD category) out of 10 to apply for IIT Bombay MBA.
Aspirants in the final year of the degree and those awaiting results can also apply. The applicant should have scored an aggregate of 60% (55% aggregate in case of candidates belonging to SC/ ST/PWD category) or equivalent till the latest exam that has been completed and whose scores are available.
NIT Trichy does not conduct any in-house entrance test. It grant admission to the courses on the basis of merit in national-level examinations. The accepted entrance examinations are JEE Main, GATE, IIT JAM, CAT, and NIMCET. Only the candidates with a valid score in the accepted exams as per the applied course are admitted.
GATE Participation Trend and Analysis Over the Years
Over the past five years (2020-2024), the GATE has experienced fluctuations in candidate registrations, exam attendance and qualifications. The number of GATE test papers has also increased. The GATE two-paper combination was also included, offering more options to candidates.

GATE Qualifying Rate and Trends
The percentage of candidates qualifying has varied over the years, which are as follows -
- 2020 - Approximately 18.8% qualification rate
- 2021 - A slight decrease to 17.8%
- 2022 - The rate stabilised to 18.9%
- 2023 - A further reduction to 18.9%
- 2024 - An increase to 19.8% due to new changes in GATE, such as the inclusion of the GATE two paper combination and other factors.
Over the past few years, the GATE has increased registrations and candidate attendance fluctuations. However, there was a slight peak in 2024. Qualifying rates have also experienced minor fluctuations, while the cutoff score for the subject papers have varied, reflecting changes in the exam difficulty level and the candidate’s performance. The GATE 2025 cutoff marks and scores will be announced along with the results.

No, a duplicate GATE 2026 admit card will not be provided at the test center. Candidates must carry their own admit card along with the mentioned documents and items to the GATE exam center. IIT Guwahati will release the GATE admit card on January 2.
