POWER GRID PESL 2025 Eligibility Criteria
No, a GATE score of 40 marks is relatively low for IITs and popular branches like CSE, ME, EE, and ME. The score is considered below average. Candidates willing to apply for the program must meet the following criteria -
- Required qualification - Aspirants must have completed full-time graduation in any discipline- B.E/B.Tech or B.Sc Engineering in Electrical discipline or equivalent degree from a recognised university or institute. The minimum qualifying marks must be 60% or equivalent CGPA.
- Eligible disciplines - Electrical/Electrical (Power), Electrical and Electronics, Power Systems Engineering, Power Engineering (Electrical).
- Must have appeared and qualified for the GATE examination in Electrical Engineering paper.
- The upper age limit of the candidate must be 28 years.
- Relaxation is offered to the candidates as per the government norms.
PESL 2025 Selection Process
The selection process consists of normalised marks obtained (out of 100) in the corresponding GATE paper, followed by behavioural assessment, Group discussion, and personal interview. Candidates can check their qualification status through their candidate log-in to the Online Application System. Shortlisted candidates can also download their interview call letter and other relevant documents through the candidate login. Selected candidates can opt for the GD process in Hindi or English.

Pay Scale/Designation on Regularisation
Selected candidates will undergo a one-year training period. During this period, they will be paid INR 30,000 to INR 1, 20 000/-, IDA, HRA, and perks at 12% of the Basic Pay per month. Once the training is complete, they will be offered the “Assistant Engineer” position at E0 level in the pay scale of INR 30 000 to INR 1,20 000/- IDA.
The selected candidates will be required to execute a service agreement bond of INR 5,00, 000/—for General/OBC (NCL), EWS candidates and INR 2,50,000/—for SC/ST and PwBD candidates to serve the Corporation for a minimum of three years after completing the training period.
PESL 2025 Application Fees
Students applying for GATE 2025 can opt for two subject papers from the prescribed set of combinations. Earlier, the candidates could apply to appear in only one subject. As a candidate can appear in only two papers (only approved set) of the 30 papers for which GATE 2025 will be conducted, they must carefully choose the papers they wish to write. A candidate is expected to appear in the papers appropriate to the discipline of his or her qualifying degree. However, he or she is free to choose any paper according to his or her admission plan, keeping in mind the GATE eligibility criteria of the institutions in which he or she wishes to seek admission. Passing marks in GATE exam is different for all 30 papers. The GATE qualifying mark for PSUs recruitment is also different. Candidates appearing in any GATE paper have to obtain the minimum mark in order to be declared qualified for the exam. Only qualified candidates are considered for admission to MTech/MSc/PhD programs and the MHRD scholarship.
