Factors Affecting MHCET Law 5-Year Cutoff

The MHCET Law cutoff varies each year for all the colleges and courses. The cutoff scores shared by the conducting body depend upon these factors:

  1. Exam difficulty level: This is one of the highly dominating factors that decides the cutoff score. If the question paper is of a high difficulty level, then the cutoff is expected to remain low.
  2. Total Seats offered by the Law colleges: In case the number of seats offered by the colleges is less compared to the number of applicants interested in admission, then the cutoff goes high
  3. Category Reservation policy: In case of any change in the reservation policy, the cutoff score may go high or low. Therefore, reserved and open category candidates must check these rules carefully.
  4. CAP Round Participation: In case the participation in the CAP rounds is high, then the cutoff will be high, and vice versa.
  5. Candidates who appeared for the exam: If the number of applicants is high in a particular year, then generally the cutoff goes high

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Which is a scoring section in MH CET Law?
A:

Candidates are advised to focus on all the sections asked in the MH CET Law exam. Each section carry importance and finally add into the final score. Also, you can see the weightage of the sections asked in MHCET Law exam, the Legal Aptitude and Logical Reasoning sections carry more marks than the other sections. In the 3-year LLB exam of Maharashtra LAWCET, English section also carry more weightage in the exam. Students should have a strategic approach while preparing for the exam, keeping in mind the exam pattern and MHCET Law marking scheme.

Q:   What is the cut off for Maharashtra law University?
A:

For MNLU Mumbai (CLAT), you usually need to be in the top 500–600 ranks, which is around 90–95+ marks out of 120 for General All India candidates. The closing rank often goes near 1473 by the third round. In MH CET Law, getting around 115–120+ marks is mostly safe if you're aiming for top law colleges in Maharashtra. The cutoff marks can change depending on your category and which MNLU campus you choose — Mumbai, Nagpur, or Aurangabad.

Q:   Does NLU Mumbai accepts MHCET Law Score?
A:

No, Maharashtra National Law University (MNLU) Mumbai doesn't take MHCET Law scores for its 5-year B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) or LL.M. courses. The admission process at MNLU Mumbai is done only through the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT), which is the main exam for entry into all National Law Universities in India.

Q:   What is the difference between CLAT and MH CET exam?
A:

CLAT is a national-level law exam held for admission into 24+ National Law Universities (NLUs). It mainly tests you through passage-based and analytical questions, which take more time to solve and need deeper focus. On the other hand, MH CET Law is a state-level exam for Maharashtra law colleges, known for being quicker and more direct. The questions are usually straightforward, and since there's no negative marking, it's mostly seen as less tough than CLAT.
