How to Prepare for Group Discussion at SRCC?

Group Discussions (GD) are an important part of the selection process for the SRCC Global Business Operations programme. Here are some tips to help students prepare:

  • Students should research the format of the GD for SRCC GBO. They should try to understand how many students will be involved in a group and what are the common topics discussed in the GD rounds.
  • Keeping updated with the current affairs, global events and business news will give the student an edge. To prepare well for the GD round, students should reguarly read newspapers, magazines and editorials. This will also help the students to learn various topics which may be discussed in the GD round at SRCC.
  • Another tip is to practice speaking clearly and confidently. If the student is able to maintain a subtle and balanced tone throughout the discussion and is able to put his/her point across, they will be able to tackle the round with ease. Eye contact and strong body language will be beneficial.
  • The GD round will require the students to actively listen as much as it requires them to speak on a particular topic. Students should analyze the topic from different prespectives and identiy the important points. They may also be required to form logical arguments.
  • Students should avoid interrupting others while in a discussion and listen attentively.

Remember that GDs are not just about showcasing the knowledge but also demonstrating one's ability to work effectively in a team and communicate persuasively. Practice consistently and approach the GD with confidence and clarity.

SRCC GBO Selection Process: Personal Interview

Personal Interview is another crucial element of the SRCC GBO selection process. Here's what you can expect.

The PI is conducted by a panel of faculty members and experts. Interviewers assess the student’s suitability for the programme based on factors such as knowledge, communication skills, work experience, academic experience, personality, etc.

Here are some excerpts from some of the MBA interviews:

  1. What do you mean by a company? What are shares? What are debentures? Why GBO? What are your hobbies? Why do you like hockey? Sell this Lakme brand concealer to me? What is the merit of corporate finance? What is the full form of NBFC and HP? What do you mean by equity?
  2. What kind of a person are you? Do you think you'll be able to handle this course? What are your strengths and weaknesses? What is your biggest achievement in life so far? Which is your favourite subject? Are you satisfied with your academic performance? Why management?
  3. Introduce yourself. Did you appear for the CAT exam? What are your favourite subjects? What do you know about the current repo rate? What is cash?
  4. We use Google daily. What is the full form of Google? What was the internship about? What is the PE ratio? Suppose you wake up to a message on your phone that your bank account is credited with INR 10 lakh. What would you do with that money?

How to Prepare for a Personal Interview at SRCC?

The panellists may ask a variety of questions to test the candidature of the student. These questions may cover topics such as academic achievements, career goals, strengths and weaknesses, leadership experiences, extracurricular activities, current affairs, and the student’s understanding of global business trends and challenges.

To prepare for a personal Interview at SRCC, firstly, students should thoroughly know their resume and strongest achievements. These achievements will be the main selling point during a Personal Interview. The students should prepare how to talk confidently, walk with a good posture, etc., before the interview. Practice is the best way to crack an interview. Students should investigate the GBO curriculum, SRCC faculty, placement opportunities, etc., before appearing for the interview, as the panellists may ask the questions on the student's interest in the GBO programme and why. Students should be able to answer why the GBO programme aligns with their future plans and career goals.

Students can try to explain their career goal, path and how do they think that the MBA programme will help them further. They should be passionate to show their future goals. Students should dress formally for the interview, arrive on time. They should greet the panellists and always be polite.
