Kumar shares top tips and tricks that will help you crack the upcoming Common Admission Test (CAT) exam scheduled for November 24.
- Practice of mock test can tell you how good you are at solving the questions. Previous years’ mock CAT results can be beneficial for evaluation of your preparation. Don’t leave any easy questions whether you are practicing or are in the examination hall.
- Regular practice will be helpful in increasing accuracy. To improve accuracy, you should focus on the basic concept first. Evaluate your preparation through a mock test or if you don’t want to solve the mock test then go for the previous year’s question papers. Keep in mind that the revision of the topics is important.
- At the examination, attempt easy questions first from every section. By this, you will get more time to solve more questions. Before, attempting the questions, read all questions carefully. There will be many questions in the question paper that you can answer easily just by reading once.
- Focus more on Quantitative Aptitude and Data Interpretation because these are the deciders of your selection. The answers would be completely dependent on your judgment skills. Now coming to the marking scheme, for every correct answer, three marks will be given. For every incorrect answer, one marks will be deducted. No marks will be given for the unattempted questions.
- Important points to note that your computer screen at the time of examinations will display the remaining time for every section. You should divide your time accordingly. Every 60 minutes, one section will be locked that you are attempting. If you are a person with disabilities (PwD) candidate, then you will get 80 minutes for every section. For the preparation of CAT, you can directly follow R S Aggarwal for Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and Objective English.
- Apart from this, for the mock tests, you can join any coaching institutes through online mode such as CL, T.I.M.E, etc. they will provide you the mock papers that will help you to reach your level. Also for the mock tests, you can follow the mock paper issued by IIM Kozhikode, the exam-conducting institute this year.

Yes, CAT exam is MCQ type, meaning there are no subjective type questions wherein you have to write a lot. In CAT every question is to be answered in one word or option. However, all questions don't have MCQ options, some are Type In The Answer (TITA) questions.

Yes, students can prepare for the KMAT exam along with the CAT exam. However, CAT is comparatively a difficult MBA exam. The difficulty level of KMAT is easy to moderate, but CAT retains high difficulty levels. Students can use CAT books for KMAT preparation
