Understanding the TANCET Percentile Score

TANCET results indicate actual marks as well as the percentile scores. TANCET percentile scores help during the TN MBA admissions. The percentile indicates the percentage of test-takers who secured a lower actual score than the candidate.

    • Y = Total number of candidates who scored lower actual marks than the candidate

TANCET Counselling Process 2026

The Directorate of Technical Education (DTE), Chennai, initiates the centralized admission protocol after Anna University publishes the TANCET exam results.

  • Document Verification: Registered applicants must upload necessary academic and category certificates. These documents undergo a physical verification round.
  • Rank List Publication: Following document verification, the DTE publishes a rank list. Candidates are placed on this list strictly based on their actual TANCET marks.
  • Grievance Redressal: A short window is provided for candidates to report and correct discrepancies found in the initial rank list.
  • Choice Filling: Candidates participate in the online counseling process by selecting and ranking their preferred colleges and specific MBA branches.
  • Seat Allotment: The system allots seats based on the candidate's rank, indicated preferences, available seat matrix, and state reservation rules.
  • Admission Confirmation: Allotted candidates must download their provisional allotment order and submit the remaining admission fees directly to the assigned institution to confirm their enrollment.
  • Closing Ranks: At the end of the admission cycle, the DTE releases a consolidated public report containing the final closing scores and ranks for all participating colleges.
