Candidates must also carry a pencil and an eraser to mark the questions where they are not sure of an answer and may have to revisit to change the same. Borrowing stationery or talking to any other test taker is not allowed inside the TANCET exam centre. Candidates should arrange all the stationery material a day before the exam.

4. Reach TANCET Exam Centre Before Notified Time

The MCA exam is conducted in the morning shift, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 NOON, and the MBA exam is conducted in the afternoon shift from 02:30 PM to 04:30 PM. Candidates must reach the exam venue at least one hour before the exam starts. This provides ample time to check the notice board, find exam hall, and settle in, last-minute anxiety that can impact performance while answering questions in TANCET exam. Candidates will not be allowed to enter the exam hall half an hour after the test starts. Therefore, candidates must check the ETA for the test venue beforehand. Besides reaching late, candidates are not allowed to leave the exam hall until the test concludes.

5. Check Seating Arrangement

After the required frisking at the test centre, candidates will be allowed to enter the TANCET exam hall. They have to take a seat inside the examination hall according to the allotted roll no. on the TANCET admit card. The seat no. will not be changed before the exam.

6. Go Through TANCET Question Paper Quickly

The invigilator will distribute the TANCET question paper as per the bell timings. As soon as the question papers are distributed, candidates must read the instructions and then go through the questions. Candidates must start with the section they can complete in less time with maximum accuracy.

7. Fill the OMR Sheet Cautiously

The invigilator provides the OMR sheet to all candidates. TANCET OMR sheets will be evaluated using a computer software; therefore, candidates not filling the sheet properly may be evaluated incorrectly. Candidates must use a black ballpoint pen to carefully fill in the details and shade the answers. Striking out a shaded bubble to select a new one or shading multiple options for a single question will lead to negative marking. No candidate will get a replacement of OMR sheets in case of errors. Candidates must also ensure returning OMR sheet to the invigilator after completing the test.

8. Returning Question Book & Answer Sheet after Exam

After completing the TANCET 2026 exam, candidates must return the question paper and answer sheet to the invigilator. In case they fail to do so, they will get disqualified from the exam.

Things to Avoid on TANCET Exam Day

Candidates must avoid the following on the TANCET exam day:

1. Carrying Electronic Gadgets

Candidates must not carry any electronic gadgets to the exam centre. Some of these electronic gadgets include:

  • Calculator
  • Mobile phone
  • Wristwatch
  • Bluetooth devices
  • Camera

Candidates are allowed inside the exam hall after frisking by the security officials.

2. Prohibited Material Inside the Exam Centre

Candidates are not allowed to carry anything except a pen and other stationery materials mentioned on the admit card. The invigilator will provide a plain sheet for rough work for the TANCET exam. Candidates have to submit the rough sheet along with the question book and OMR sheet before leaving the exam centre. Additionally, TANCET exam centre may not have any safe storage or cloakroom facilities, therefore, candidates must avoid carrying anything which is not allowed inside the test centre.

3. Don’t Spend too Much Time on One Question

Candidates have 120 minutes to answer a total of 100 questions. Candidates must try and answer each question in one minute to have 20 minutes left for revision. Time management is important during competitive exams to avoid missing any question. Therefore, candidates must plan their exam day beforehand.

4. Don’t Leave TANCET Exam Hall Before Stipulated Time

Candidates must revise their marked answers before they submit their OMR sheet if they have enough time. If a test taker has doubts over an answer, he/she must use this time to verify its correctness.

5. Do not Involve in Malpractice

Test takers must not follow any malpractice inside the exam centre to get a high score. If any candidate is found to be following unfair means, s/he would be disqualified from taking the test immediately. Hence, candidates should try to score high based on their own capabilities.

6. Avoid Attempting all Questions

TANCET 2026 exam will have a negative marking for 1/3 marks. That is to say for every three incorrect responses marked by the candidate, one mark will be deducted. Candidates tend to attempt all the questions even if they do not know the answer. However, we recommend not to attempt a question on pure guesswork. With each incorrect response, the test taker will reduce his/her chance of TN MBA/MCA admission.

Candidates will find the TANCET exam day guidelines mentioned on the hall ticket. Candidates must abide by the guidelines to avoid difficulties on the exam day.
