NEET SS 2024: Majority Candidates Found Exam to be Moderate to Tough, reveals Shiksha Poll

The NEET SS 2024 exam was conducted on March 29 and March 30, 2025, by the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS). Responding to Shiksha.com polls on the NEET SS 2024 difficulty level and expected score, majority of candidates stated that they found the difficulty level of the exam to be moderate to tough. Apart from that, they are expecting the score to be between 300 and 400.

NEET SS 2024 was conducted in a time-bound sectional manner in a window of two days and two slots. The total marks of the exam is 600. Let us analyse each of these polls here on this article.

NEET SS 2024 Difficulty Level

The Shiksha.com poll asked was, ‘What was the difficulty level of NEET SS 2024 exam according to you?’ Majority of the respondents, accounting to 37 per cent, say that the difficulty level was moderate to tough, followed by 31per cent candidates, who think that the difficulty level was tough. Eight per cent and seven per cent candidates found the NEET SS 2024 exam to be easy to moderate and easy respectively.

Each question of NEET SS carries four marks. For each wrong answer, one mark is deducted. No marks is deducted or awarded for questions left unanswered in the NEET SS exam.

According to a notification released by NBEMS, there was a time-bound sectional demarcation of questions for NEET SS. There are three sections carrying 50 minutes and 50 questions each. Unless a section is over, candidates cannot proceed to the next section. Once the next section begins, the questions of previous sections cannot be reviewed or changed.

There is negative marking in the NEET SS exam. Each wrong answer results in deduction of one mark. However, no marks are deducted for unanswered questions. Candidates get four marks for each correct answer.

NEET SS 2024 Expected Score

The Shiksha poll asked on this is ‘What is your expected score of NEET SS 2024?’

In this question, majority of the respondents, accounting to 40 per cent, voted for the option ‘300 to 400’. This is followed by the option ‘400 to 500’, which is voted by 34 per cent respondents. On the other hand, 23 per cent candidates opted for ‘less than 300’ score whereas three per cent candidates opted for full marks of 600.

The NEET SS entrance exam is conducted for admission to DM, MCh and DNB courses in 165 institutes across India. The exam is conducted for 13 course groups or specialities. This year, the NEET SS 2024 exam pattern underwent change as time-bound sections were introduced. There were three sections of 50 questions each, of 50 minutes duration.

Reacting to the revised pattern, students, 34 per cent candidates expressed support towards the change as it helps them focus better. On the other hand, 28 per cent and 26 per cent felt the need for sectional movement flexibility and that the previous NEET SS exam pattern was better, respectively.

The NEET SS 2024 result is expected to be declared by April 30, 2025. The NEET SS 2024 cutoff will also be released along with result. The qualifying candidates will have to participate in the NEET SS counselling which will be conducted tentatively from May or June 2025 onwards.

Yes, you can get into Ramaiah University with a rank of 3000 if you belong to the General AI category. For this category, the round 1 cutoff ranged from 570 to 4124.

The rank needed for admission at MSRUAS would depend on the category you belong to and the round you are applying in.
