Factors Affecting NEET 2026 Rank for 501–600 Marks

There are multiple variables which affect the NEET marks vs rank analysis for 2026. Have a look at these factors below-

  • Exam Difficulty: If the NEET question paper is tough, it could reduce the cutoff, making the rank for 501–600 marks could improve.
  • Number of Seats: There are over 1 lakh MBBS, 27,618 BDS and 52,720 AYUSH seats for admission, which could improve the cutoff trends and rank.
  • Category and Quota: The reserved categories (SC/ST/OBC) or the state quotas often have much lower cutoff, making it worse for candidates who have scored 501–600.

Admission Scope with 501–600 Marks in NEET 2026

For NEET 2026, a score in the range of 501 to 600 opens many avenues for admission, but attaining a government MBBS seat may be difficult for general category students. This is because the cutoffs can be high for general category students. Here is a breakdown of category-wise admissions for medical courses.

  • General Category: Admission to an MBBS seat in a government college with 501-525 marks is a little bit tough. As NEET cutoffs are usually 550 and above. although this year, as per the level of difficulty of NEET exam, cut-off can be a bit lower than last year's exam cut off.
  • Reserved Category (SC/ST/OBC): Most candidates who fall under these categories have a higher chance than the general category students. Again, the state quota has its advantages. an example can be taken from Karnataka, where 470 marks can secure an OBC/SC/ST candidate a seat.

Private and Deemed Colleges Accepting 501-600 NEET Marks

Private medical colleges and deemed universities are good options for candidates who score 501-600. Private candidates like a few SRM Medical College, Bharati Vidyapeeth, and Kasturba Medical College can accept ranks of 50,000-80,000, especially in Management quotas. Candidates are encouraged to check the criteria for private medical universities from NEET 2026. Candidates should also explore the counselling possibilities for the state.
