NEET 2024 News and Updates: The NEET 2024 exam was conducted on May 5, 2024. The NEET 2024 admit card was released on May 2, 2024. NTA has stated that the NEET 2024 result will be declared on June 14, 2024.
The NEET 2024 city intimation slip was released on April 24, 2024. NTA reopened the NEET 2024 application correction facility for the third time from April 25 to April 26, 2024, 11.59 PM. Candidates could update or correct their photographs. According to NTA, some candidates' photographs are not as per the prescribed standard or format. Their NEET admit card may be withheld in case they are not as per the guidelines. Hence, this opportunity is given to them once again.
NTA rereleased the NEET 2024 application form on April 9, 2024. The last date to fill and submit the application form was April 10, 2024, by 10.50 PM. The application fee had to be paid by 11.50 PM on the same date. Announcing the reopening of the NEET 2024 application process, NTA has stated, “We have received various representations from stakeholders with a request to re-open the registration window of NEET-UG 2024. Based on the representation, it has been decided to re-open the Registration window of NEET-UG 2024.” After this, the NEET 2024 application correction window was opened from April 11 to April 15, 2024.
The NEET 2024 application form was originally released on February 9, 2024, and the last date of application was March 16, 2024. The NEET 2024 application correction window was open from March 18, 2024, to March 20, 2024. Only those candidates, who completed the NEET 2024 application process, are allowed to edit or make corrections in the selected fields of the application form.
NTA has reversed the tie-breaking criteria to last year's factors. In the revised criteria, the final factor was a computerised draw of lots, which replaced the subject-wise accuracy proportion of candidates, that was followed in the previous years.
As per the notification, NEET 2024 exam centres were not slated to be located outside India. However, as per the NTA announcement dated February 20, 2024, the exam will now be conducted in 14 international cities, like last year. The number of exam cities in India has increased from 499 to 554. The tie-breaking criteria have also been revised.
The NEET 2024 syllabus by NTA was released on November 22, as was reported earlier. The NTA syllabus for NEET 2024 is the same as that released earlier by the National Medical Council (NMC). No other information has been announced by NTA apart from the NEET syllabus 2024 PDF yet.
NMC has announced the revision of the NEET 2024 eligibility criteria. As per this, candidates who have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English as additional subjects are also eligible to appear for the exam. Till last year, applicants had to study these subjects as core papers for their Board exams in order to be eligible for the NEET exam.

The National Medical Commission (NMC) released the NEET 2024 syllabus earlier, which has removed some of the topics from the previous years in each subject, namely, Physics, Chemistry and Biology. On the other hand, some of the topics have been added as well. Unlike previous years, the NMC NEET UG syllabus 2024 is not segregated into Class 11 and Class 12 topics. On the other hand, the Chemistry subject has been divided into Organic, Inorganic and Physical Chemistry sections.
Given the fact that there is a major change in the NEET 2024 syllabus and the NEET 2024 eligibility criteria brought in by NMC, there was a chance that the NEET 2024 exam pattern could change, but it has remained the same. The information bulletin and the complete NEET 2024 notification were released along with the NEET 2024 application form.
NTA conducted the NEET 2025 application correction window from March 9 to March 11, 2025. The duration of NEET application correction was three days. The application correction window is available only for candidates who will complete the NEET 2025 application process by paying the application fee. There are specific fields which are available for edit and the rest of the fields are uneditable, for both Aadhaar verified and Aadhaar non-verified candidates. Prior to starting the correction process, candidates have to check the list carefully and then proceed. There is no additional fee required for availing the NEET application correction facility unless there is a change of category impacting the application fee amount.
.
No, there has not been any change in the NEET 2025 syllabus. Last year, the NEET syllabus underwent major changes as per the recommendation by the National Medical Commission (NMC). A number of chapters and topics were removed from Physics, Chemistry and Biology subjects. On the other hand, certain topics and chapters were added and some of the topics were modified. Since such major changes were brought in to last year's NEET syllabus, the NEET 2025 syllabus is unchanged.
NEET syllabus 2025 has been released officially by NMC in December 2024. Hence, students preparing for NEET 2025 should start preparing, or continue their preparation based on last year's NEET syllabus. Even if some changes are introduced to the NEET 2025 syllabus, those would not be something major.
The NEET 2025 information brochure released on February 7, along with the application form. The information brochure for NEET is a detailed document, which is available online on the official website of the exam in PDF format. NEET 2025 counselling started on July 21, 2025, and the last date is November 15, 2025. The total duration of NEET counselling depends on the number of seats lying vacant at the end of each round. Before each round of counselling, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) releases the seat matrix or seat vacancy list. Once all the seats are filled, the counselling process of NEET will be considered complete. In general, the NEET UG counselling process ranges from two to three months. The duration of each round is around two to three weeks. The duration for the first two rounds is higher than that of the last two rounds. The last date may be extended based on the seat vacancy.
As per the eligibility criteria of NEET candidates should pass the Class 12th Board exam from a recognised institute and board from the Science stream with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate (40 per cent for OBC/SC/ST and 45 per cent for PwD category candidates). The candidates must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology and English subjects in Class 11 and Class 12. There has been a change in the NEET 2024 eligibility criteria. Till last year, Physics, Chemistry and Biology/Biotechnology subjects had to be studied as core subjects in order to be eligible to appear for the exam. This year, the National Medical Commission has revised the eligibility criteria, which states that candidates may study these subjects as additional papers. The minimum age limit is 17 years as on December 31 of the year of admission. The upper age limit criteria has been removed in the year 2022.
NEET 2024 was conducted on May 5, 2024. NTA announced the exam date on September 19, approximately eight months in advance. NTA has decided the exam date after much deliberation and assessing situations such as Board exam schedule, other exams, etc. Over the past few years, NEET exam date was delayed owing to the pandemic situation, which affected the overall academic calendar. To bring back normalcy, NTA conducted NEET UG 2024 in May, similar to the pre-pandemic era after much brainstorming and assessing other entrance exam dates. Howrver, NEET 2024 will be reconducted on June 23, 2024, for 1,563 candidates who were given grace marks. The Supreme Court of India has asked NTA not to delay the admission process. Hence, NTA will release the result of the retest on June 30, 2024, and the counselling process will begin in July 2024.
The NEET 2025 admit card was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on April 30, 2025, four days before the exam date. NEET 2025 was held on May 4, 2025.
Prior to the release of the NEET admit card, NTA released the advance intimation of exam city slip on April 23, 2025, a week before releasing the NEET 2025 admit card. The document mentions the city of the NEET exam centre allotted to candidates. Generally, NTA does not release the NEET admit card release date in advance. Candidates have to log in to the NEET website with their registration credentials to download the admit card of NEET 2025.
The format for NEET exam is a total of 180 question with total 720 marks. Four marks will be awarded for a right answer and one mark will be deducted for a wrong answer. Each subject will be divided into two sections. The syllabus will be that of Class 11 and Class 12 CBSE syllabus.
NTA released the re-revised scorecard on July 26, 2024. In this scorecard, the score has been revised as per the Supreme Court verdict of removing the bonus marks awarded earlier for the controversial Physics question, and deducting one mark from those who marked incorrect answer options. The city and centre-wise result data such as number of candidates appeared and scores obtained, by masking candidates' personal data was released on July 21, as per the Supreme Court order given on the hearing dated July 18, 2024. The NEET 2024 result for the re-exam, which was conducted on June 23, was declared on July 1, day day after the slated date. The final answer keys for the NEET 2024 re-exam was released by June 30, ahead of the result declaration. Earlier, the result of NEET 2024 was declared by NTA on June 4, 2024, 10 days ahead of the original schedule, which was June 14, 2024. NTA released the final NEET answer keys on June 4, prior to the release of the NEET result 2024. The NEET result was declared in an online mode. Candidates have to log in with their registration credentials or application number and date of birth, and download their scorecard in PDF format. NTA also released the merit list containing the name, Roll Number, All India Rank and Percentile of the candidates.
