NEET PG 2025 Exam Analysis
As NEET PG exam is conducted in online mode, the hard copy of NEET PG question paper is not available to candidates. NBE doesn't release the official question paper for NEET PG. Candidates will find the exam analaysis of NEET PG on the basis of memory based questions.
It must be noted that candidates are not allowed to reveal the content of the test paper as they have to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) while applying for the exam. Hence, the exact questions asked in the examination can’t be identified. However, candidates can recall questions as per their memory and share them with others. On behalf of Shiksha.com, we approached some of the candidates for their reactions at exam centre. They provided insight into NEET PG 2025 question paper. This exam analysis is solely based on the response of students who appeared for the exam on Sunday. Given below NEET PG 2025 analysis based on information provided by students.
Difficulty level: According to students, the overall difficulty level of the exam was easy to moderate
Clinical based questionss: Questions were based on clinical scenario. A good number of questions were from Gynae, Pharmacology, Surgury, Ophthalmology, General Medicine (including Dermatology, Psychiatry), Surgery etc. Questions were asked from previous year papers.
Good attempt: A total of 170-180 questions were good attempt
Exam postponment helped: Students said they got extra time for preparation as date was extended.

NBE doesn't release the weightage for NEET PG exam. However, from last few years record, it can be said that maximum weightage is given to clinical subjects. A good number of questions are asked from general medicine, general surgury and paediatrics. Lesser number of questions are asked from anatomy, physiology etc. Candidates must note weightage for NEET PG syllabus may vary. This is why, candidates are advised not to depend upon weightage and prepare all subjects of clinical, pre and para clinical well so that there is less scope of negative marking.
NEET PG 2025 exam was easy as compared to last year. The overall difficulty level of exam was easy to moderate. Most of the questions were asked from previous year papers. A good number of questions were asked from topics such as Obstetrics and Gynaecology (OBS GYNE), Pharmacology, Surgery, Biochemistry etc. 170-180 questions were easy to attempt.
NEET PG 2025 Vs NEET PG 2024 Exam Analysis
In comparision to 2024, the paper was difficult in 2025. Questions were mostly easy and only 5-10% were difficult in NEET PG 2025 exam. Most of the questions were clinical based from Surgury, Optho and Gyneacology in 2024 while this time questions were from Gynaecology and Pharmacology.
NEET PG 2024 Analysis
Difficulty level: According to students, the overall difficulty level of the exam was moderate difficult
Clinical based questionss: Questions were based on clinical scenario. Most number of questions were from minor subjects. A good number of questions were from Surgury, Optho and Gyneacology. Paper was lenthy.
Good attempt: A total of 160-170 questions were good attempt
No issue with time bound section: Students said they didn't face any difficulty with time bound section introduced this year by NBE.
NEET PG 2026 Marking Scheme
An aspirant must be aware of the NEET PG marking scheme. Knowing the marking scheme, students can plan a problem-solving strategy. Many students try guess work while solving the question. But in NEET PG, it is not possible due to negative marking. Therefore, students have to mark the questions they are confident in; otherwise, ignore them. Below is the NEET PG 2026 marking scheme.

- Each question carries 4 marks.
- -1 mark for wrong answers.

As such no section is easy in NEET PG syllabus. Some candidates may find clinical section easy while others may perceive para clinical as difficult. In reality, all the three sections clinical pre and para clinical are equally difficult and candidates have to devote good amount of time to prepare in and out of every subjects. It must be noted, a good number of questions are clinical based, so this section holds huge importance.
Some topics of pre and para clinical are utmost important as lots of questions are from them. Point is candidates should prepare all three sections in such manner so that 90 percent questions can be answered easily. Last year, clinical section was difficult in comparision to other two sections.
Before starting NEET PG preparation, candidates need to have plan and strategies in place. Effective time management is crucial for the preparation. First of all take stock of the situation where actually you stand in terms of preparation. You should ask yourself following questions:
- Which are the topics your are confident at
- Which are the subjects which needs more attention
- Which are the subjects where you need to start from scratch
- What are your srength and weakness
These are some of the prembles of your preparation strategies. Following after make daily schedule allocating specific time for each subject. Try to cover those subjects first where you feel confident of scoring well. Try to finish syllabus at least a month before exam.
Candidates expect to devote many hours to crack any competitive exams. This rule applies in NEET exam also. Candidates have to devote serious 5-7 hours daily to prepare the exam throughly. Experts belive candidates should utilize this time with proper planning. They should have strategies in place how to use these hours to cover in and out of every topic of NEET PG syllabus. Some candidates may require more time than daily than others and this may depends on many factors especially where they actually stand before starting preparation.
500 plus marks is considered a decent score in NEET PG exam. If a candidate score 535 marks that means his/her rank will be somewhere around 1000-2000. With that score, there is a chance to get admission in government college. Good score also depends on difficulty level of the question paper. If the question paper is difficult then cut off will be low. In 2023-24 session, general category cut off was 291 while the cut off for SC/ST was 257. Overall 500 plus marks will enable you to get admission in good college for PG course.
NEET PG syllabus mainly comprises three sections, Pre Clinical, Para clinical, and Clinical. Each section comprises different subjects which have to be prepared well to qualify NEET PG exam. The pre clinical subjects include anatomy, physiology and biochemistry. To cover para clinical section, candidates have to prepare subjects such as pharmacology, microbiology, pathology, forensic medicine, social and preventive medicine. Clinical part comprises subjects such as medicine, dermatology and venereology surgery, orthopaedics and anaesthesia, radiodiagnosis, obstetrics, gynaecology, paediatrics, and ophthalmology ENT.
