A: The Physiotherapy courses are offered at undergraduate, postgraduate and doctorate levels. The types of the courses also vary as per degree, diploma and certificate. The delivery of programmes ranges from full-time, part-time, and distance education modes.

Q: What is the course duration of Physiotherapy?

A. Different Physiotherapy courses have different durations, for example, 

  • UG degree course - 4.5 Years
  • PG degree course - 2 Years
  • Certifications & Diplomas - Hours to Months
  • PhD - 3 - 6 Years

You'll find these durations different because of the coursework given in each program. For example, at the UG level, you need to study for 4 years and do an internship for the last 6 months.

 

Q: Can a Physiotherapy course considered as a medical course?

A: Physiotherapy is not a typical medical course, nor it is a paramedical course. Physiotherapy is a professional course in the healthcare sector. Although the Physiotherapy courses do not comprise a part of Medical courses, qualified Physiotherapists play an important role in the medical field.

Q: What are the education requirements for Physiotherapy courses?

A: To pursue undergraduate Physiotherapy courses, candidates should pass Class 12 Board exam in Science stream with Biology as a core subject. Some of the institutes set the minimum aggregate requirement as 50 per cent as the basic eligibility criteria.

Q. Is NEET important for Physiotherapy admission?

A: No, NEET is not a mandatory entrance exam for studying Physiotherapy courses. There are institute or university specific entrance exams for Physiotherapy course admissions and some institutes conduct merit-based admission processes.

Q. Can I do Physiotherapy courses in distance mode?

A: Yes, Physiotherapy courses are offered through Distance learning mode. For practical curriculum, students are advised to visit the assigned institutes.

Q. Can I do Physiotherapy courses online?

A: Yes, a number of Certificate courses are offered in Physiotherapy stream in both online and offline modes. The duration also varies from course to course.

Q. Can I do Physiotherapy courses in a part time mode?

A: Yes, some institutes offer Physiotherapy courses in part-time mode, wherein students are able to pursue the course as per their convenience while simultaneously pursuing another programme or course.

Q. Can I go for MBBS after Physiotherapy?

A: Since 2022, the upper age limit criteria for NEET UG has been removed. Hence, if a Physiotherapy student qualifies for NEET, he/she will be eligible to pursue MBBS.

A: Yes, online Physiotherapy courses are available, but the format of the programmes is that of Certificate courses. In general, full-time courses are not taught in online mode.
