IIT Hyderabad offers BTech course three streams such as Engineering, IT & Software and Science. As per official website, the total BTech tuition fee is INR 8 lakh. However, the one-time fee for the course is INR 17,000.

Q:   What is the IIT Hyderabad cutoff for the OBC category?
A: 

IIT Hyderabad cutoff 2026 has been announced for Round 1 of MSc course admissions. The IIT Hyderabad JAM cutoff 2026 was released for various All India categories, including the OBC category. 

For the aforementioned category, the first round cutoff varied from 398 to 594. Students can refer to the table below to know the IIT Hyderabad branch-wise cutoff 2026.

Q:   How is IIT Hyderabad campus?
A: 

The IIT Hyderabad campus has many facilities for the students. The campus is spread over 576 acres. Its architecture is associated with Japan, as it was set up with technical and financial assistance from the Government of Japan. The campus gives facilities like canteen, transportation, library, auditorium etc. 

Q:   Is the PhD fees refundable at IIT Hyderabad?
A: 

IIT Hyderabad PhD admission fees is refundable for candidates who decide to cancel their admissions. The institute follows the UGC guidelines to offer refunds to such candidates.

The UGC guidelines provide for refunds to candidates who decide to cancel their admission within 30 days of the commencement of the course. Earlier cancellation will result in higher percentage of refunds.

Q:   Can I apply for PhD admissions at IIT Hyderabad while waiting for final year admissions?
A: 

There is no mention of IIT Hyderabad offering PhD admissions to candidates who are yet to receive their final exam scorecard. Generally, PhD admissions are not offered to students who are still in their final year of the PG course.

Hence, candidates can assume that they can only apply for IIT Hyderabad PhD admissions after completing pot graduation.

Q:   Is GATE compulsory for IIT Hyderabad PhD course?
A: 

No, GATE is not a compulsory entrance exam for PhD admissions at IIT Hyderabad. However, every department of IIT Hyderabad has a separate eligibility and selection criteria for their offered PhD courses.

In some departments, candidates are required to appear for the GATE in order to be eligible for IIT Hyderabad PhD admissions.

Q:   Is work experience mandatory for PhD admissions at IIT Hyderabad?
A: 

No, work experience has not been listed as a mandatory requirement in the IIT Hyderabad PhD eligibility criteria. Candidates who wish to gain admission into the regular PhD course admissions are required to only clear the specific PG level course with the required minimum aggregate to be eligible.

Q:   Is IIT Hyderabad M.Tech entrance tough?
A: 

IIT Hyderabad students claims that the M.Tech entrance has a high level of difficulty for the GATE.

However, the difficulty is also described as being lower than that of exams such as JEE Main and JEE Advanced. 

Candidates are advised to prepare the GATE syllabus thoroughly to maximize their chances of being selected at IIT Hyderabad.

Q:   Can I apply for BTech admissions at IIT Hyderabad in offline mode?
A: 

No, the BTech admissions at IIT Hyderabad are not open to offline mode admissions. In order to apply for IIT Hyderabad admissions, candidates need to appear for the JEE Mains, JEE Advanced and JoSAA counseling rounds. The registration for the aforementioned exams and counseling can only be done on their official NTA portals in online mode.

Q:   Can I get admission in IIT Hyderabad with 100 merit rank in UCEED 2026?
A: 

The closing rank for IIT Hyderabad was 43. So, if you secure a merit rank of 100 in the UCEED 2026 exam, you chances of admission to the B. Des will be very low. To have a good chance of admission into the institute, you must target a UCEED merit rank within the top 40. However, note that if you belong to reserved categories, in that case the cut-off would be lower. Further, you will be considered for admission under both the reserved category and the open category.

Q:   I am getting 250 rank in IIT JAM 2025. I want MSc in Mathematics at IIT Hyderabad. Is it achievable?
A: 

Yes, it is possible to get admission to IIT Hyderabad for MSc in Mathematics with a rank of 250 in IIT JAM for candidates belonging to the General AI category. Round 4 of the cutoff list has been released and the cutoff rank for admission to MSc in Mathematics was closed at 321 for candidates belonging to the General AI category. For candidates belonging to the OBC AI category, the cutoff rank was closed at 493. For candidates belonging to the SC AI category, the cutoff was closed at 1356. For more categories such as ST AI and EWS AI category, getting admission to the college with this rank is possible.

Q:   I belong to the OBC category and aim for IIT Hyderabad with CSE or Electrical. How much rank should I target?
A: 

You should target a rank between 282 and 874 if you want admission to the CSE and Electrical branch in the first round. The IIT Hyderabad JEE Advanced cutoff 2026 was released for the first round, wherein CSE had the closing rank of 282. B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering had the closing rank of 874.

Please note that other categories, round, etc, will have different cutoffs.

Q:   What is the opening and closing JEE Advanced rank for BTech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad?
A: 

Opening and Closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the general category under All India, the opening rank was 2076 and the closing rank was 2196. Cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even the domicile of the home state. In All India, the opening and closing rank for female candidates was 704 and 3787. Admission to B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering at IIT Hyderabad - Indian Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE Advanced. Applicants are advised to confirm what category are they applying for while checking for cut-offs.
