IIT Kanpur Partners with NMexus to Pioneer Advances in AI, Clean Energy, and Aerospace

IIT Kanpur and NMexus have signed a strategic MoU to jointly advance innovation and research in clean energy, artificial intelligence, aerospace, and other emerging technologies.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kanpur has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with NMexus™ to foster deeper collaboration in clean and sustainable energy, aerospace, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, quantum computing, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. This strategic partnership aims to strengthen ties between academic institutions, research labs, and industry leaders across India and the United States. Through joint research, innovation, and technology commercialization efforts, IIT Kanpur and NMexus™ will work together to address global challenges and advance sustainable development.

As part of the partnership, NMexus™ will drive technology-led initiatives through its Centre located in the Mesa del Sol innovation district. Designed to support up to 40 companies each year, the Centre is projected to create approximately 1,500 jobs and generate over $400 million for New Mexico’s economy over the next five years. The initiative was officially launched by Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham at the SelectUSA Investment Summit in May 2025.

This MoU not only deepens the ongoing collaboration between IIT Kanpur and NMexus™ but also underscores their shared commitment to harnessing innovation to tackle global challenges. By uniting top researchers, institutions, and industries from India and New Mexico, the partnership aims to set a benchmark for international cooperation in science, technology, and sustainable development.
