IIT Mandi to Host Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for 16th Foundation Day Event

IIT Mandi Foundation Day 2025: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh will visit IIT Mandi to participate in the celebrations of its 16th Foundation Day.
The Indian Institute of Technology Mandi (IIT Mandi) is preparing to celebrate its 16th Foundation Day on February 24, 2025, marking yet another milestone in its journey of excellence in education, research, and technological innovation. Since its establishment in 2009, IIT Mandi has made various contributions to India’s academic and innovation landscape, staying true to its vision encapsulated in the tagline “Scaling the Heights.” The institute has consistently advanced research and nurtured a learning environment, reinforcing its position as a leader in science and technology education.
A key highlight of this year’s Foundation Day celebrations will be the presence of Rajnath Singh, Minister of Defence, Government of India, as the Chief Guest. His address will focus on the crucial role of technological advancements in strengthening national security and fostering economic growth. The event will serve as an opportunity to reflect on IIT Mandi’s achievements over the years while setting new aspirations for the future, further solidifying its role in shaping India's technological and research ecosystem.
The celebration will feature distinguished guests including Prof. Vinay Kumar Pathak, VC, CSJM University Kanpur; Gokul Butail, Principal Advisor to the CM, Himachal Pradesh; Dr. Amit Kumar Pandey, CTO - Robotics and AI, Rovial Space, France as the guests of honour, who will share insights on the evolving landscape of technology, research, and education. Lt. Gen. Kanwal Jeet Singh Dhillon (Retd.), Chairman, BoG, IIT Mandi, will preside over the function.
The celebrations will begin with a special video screening showcasing IIT Mandi’s journey and key achievements over the years. Adding to the significance of the occasion, the Institute will present the Foundation Day Awards to recognise outstanding contributions from its community. These awards will honour students, faculty, alumni, and staff for their excellence in academics, research, sports, and professional achievements.
The categories include the Young Faculty Fellow Award, Young Achiever Award (Faculty/Alumni), Students’ Academic Excellence Award, and Students’ Technology Award, among others, celebrating innovation, dedication, and impact across various domains.
