The National Institute of Technology (NIT) Calicut signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Kalpetta Bar Association to create a Time Capsule in celebration of the 75th anniversary of the Supreme Court of India. Developed in partnership with NIT Calicut, the capsule is scheduled for launch in December 2024.

A Time Capsule is a specially designed container created to preserve items or information that capture the culture, events, messages, or achievements of a specific period. The proposed Time Capsule will be placed outdoors at the Kalpetta Bar Association and is intended to remain sealed for up to 100 years, serving as a historical record. It will be opened by future generations, likely a century from now. This unique project is being led by the Centre for Clean Energy and Circular Economy (C-CECE) at NIT Calicut.

The MoU signing ceremony was chaired by Prof. Prasad Krishna, Director of NIT Calicut. The event was attended by Registrar Cdr. (Dr.) M.S. Shamasundara, Prof. A. Shaija, Chairperson of CCECE, Adv. Shyam Padman, Legal Counsel, along with Deans, Heads of various Departments, faculty members, and staff from NIT Calicut. Representing the Kalpetta Bar Association were Adv. V.P. Yeldo, Adv. Sheeba Mathew, Adv. Nisha N. Bhasi, and Adv. Abdul Salam.

Adv. V.P. Yeldo, President of the Kalpetta Bar Association, discussed the development of the Time Capsule and the significant historical documents, photographs, and other relevant materials to be included. The MoU was signed by Registrar Cdr. (Dr.) M.S. Shamasundara of NIT Calicut and Adv. V.P. Yeldo. Dr. Mohammed Rashad K., a member of CCECE, presented the design, specifications, structure, and materials of the time capsule to the attendees.
