NIT Calicut (NITC): Cutoff, Placement, Fees, Courses, Admission 2026, Ranking

National Institute of Technology, Calicut, also known as NIT Calicut, is one of the oldest NITs in India and has been ranked 2 under the 'Architecture and Planning' category and 21 under the 'Engineering' category by NIRF 2025. The college offers a wide range of programmes to students, mainly in the Engineering and Technology fields. Yes, the technology institute offers MSc in Physics as a full-time course. Admission to the course is through IIT JAM followed by CCMN counselling. The seat intake for the course is 25. The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the General category under All India, opening rank was 3843 and closing rank was 4799. Cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 4636 and 6315. BE/BTech with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA in a relevant branch of Engineering is the basic eligibility for M.Tech at NIT Calicut. SC/ST/PwD category candidates need a minimum of 55% aggregate to be eligible for the course. Candidates whose results are awaiting can also take the JEE Main exam. National Institute of Technology, Calicut is one of the top-ranked Architecture institutes in India. The institute has been ranked 3rd in the 'Architecture' category,  25th in the 'Engineering' category, and 76th in the 'Management' category by NIRF Ranking 2024. Talking about the placements, the the highest and average package offered during NIT Calicut placements 2023 stood at INR 50 LPA and INR 13.77 LPA, respectively. No, NIT Calicut does not facilitate direct admission to any of the courses. Admission is entirely based on merit in the national-level exams, including JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM,  CAT,  NIMCET,  UGC NET, etc. Candidates are further required to participate in other selection rounds, such as counselling, written exam, and interview as well, as per the applied course selection criteria.

Candidates with 90 or above percentile have a high chance of getting admission to the institute. Further, the final selection depends upon the cutoff for the academic year. In 2022, the seat allotment for NIT Calicut BTech courses went till CSAB special round-2 and the closing ranks ranged between 11,049 - 54,460.

National Institute of Technology Calicut and Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology Nagpur are the two prominent colleges for BTech CSE admissions. Both colleges accept JEE Main scores for admission to the BTech and BTech Integrated courses. NIT Calicut cutoff for Round 5 for the CSE specialisation stood at 4742 and 4482 for 2023 and 2024, respectively.
