The Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education is expected to conduct the AP LAWCET 2026 exam in June. The AP LAWCET entrance test is for admissions to 3-year and 5-year integrated law courses offered at Andhra Pradesh Universities and their affiliated colleges. This exam is conducted by the Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam, Tirupati, on behalf of APSCHE. It is a state-level exam, held online as a computer-based test. The application process for the APLAWCET will tentatively begin in March 2026.

What is AP LAWCET?

Andhra Pradesh Common Law Entrance Test (APLAWCET) is a state-level entrance exam conducted by Sri Padmavati Mahila Visvavidyalayam Tirupati on behalf of Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education (APSCHE) for admissions to law courses offered at Andhra Pradesh Universities and their affiliated colleges. It is conducted in the Computer-Based Test mode for a duration of 90 minutes and the test language is English and Telugu for both five-year LLB and three-year LLB courses. 

AP LAWCET is generally conducted from 3 pm to 4:30 pm. Candidates need to note that the exam timing is subject to change.

The mode of examination for AP LAWCET is Computer-based test mode. The AP LAWCET question paper is based on 120 objective-type questions from three sections - GK and Mental Ability, Current Affairs, and Aptitude for the study of Law.

The AP LAWCET 2026 application process is expected to start in March at cets.apsche.ap.gov.in/LAWCET, for admission to the 3-year and 5-year LLB courses offered by participating law colleges in the state of Andhra Pradesh.

Note: To get admission to the LLM programme, candidates can fill out the AP PGLCET application form 2026.

Steps to fill the AP LAWCET 2026 application form

  1. Registration and payment of application fee - The candidate will be required to enter details like name, qualifying exam hall ticket number, mobile number, email id, and date of birth. Then, they have to select the stream and pay the application fee. 
  2. Fill out the form - After the fee payment was done successfully, the candidate could proceed to fill in the rest of the application form - personal, academic, and contact details. Also, select a test center.
  3. Upload documents - The candidate was required to upload a photograph and signature in JPG format. 

The entire admission process of AP LAWCET 2026 will be online and described as under:

Step 1: AP LAWCET Registration and Fee Submission

The application form of  AP LAWCET will be released on the official website of APSCHE in online mode. Candidates will have to pay the application fee and then fill the application form with their personal and academic details. Candidates will also be required to pay the mentioned amount above in the application section form section as their APLAWCET application fees 2026 for LLB courses.

Step 2: Download Admit Card

After a successful application, candidates will be issued an admit card to appear for the exam. The AP LAWCET hall ticket/admit card mentions details related to the allotted test centre, exam date, timings, and exam day instructions. To download the admit card, a candidate will have to log in on the official website using their registration number and date of birth. 

Step 3: Appear for AP LAWCET 

APSCHE conducted AP LAWCET in a computer-based test mode for a duration of 1 hour and 30 minutes. Candidates have to appear for the exam at their allotted test centres. They should carry the AP LAWCET admit card and a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre on the exam day.

Step 4: Check AP LAWCET Results

APSCHE declares the AP LAWCET result within a month of conducting the examination. Candidates who qualified AP LAWCET as per the criteria i.e. 35 per cent out of the total score of 100 will be allotted ranks in the merit list for further shortlisting process.

Step 5: Counselling and Seat Allotment

The counselling process of AP LAWCET will be conducted on the basis of the merit list. First, the candidates have to exercise web options entry, where the shortlisted candidates need to indicate their choices from the available colleges. Then the seat allotment process will begin and candidates can lock their allotted seat by completing verification of documents and fee payment.

APLAWCET 2026 Eligibility 

Candidates need to know the AP LAWCET eligibility criteria, before applying for the AP LAWCET 2026 exam. The eligibility criteria are mentioned below:

  • Candidates must have completed their (10+2) from any recognised national or state broad
  • General or open category candidates need a minimum of 45% marks in their (10+2) exam
  • The minimum qualifying marks for EWS and SC/ST category candidates are 42% and 40%, respectively
3-Year LLB
  • Candidates must have passed grduation in a (10+2+3/4) format from any recognised college or university. 
  • The minimum qualifying marks general or open category candidates in AP LAWCET 3-year LLB programme is 45%
  • The minimum qualifying marks for EWS and SC/ST category candidates are 42% and 40%, respectively for AP LAWCET 3-year LLB course

Note: Candidates waiting for their Class 12 result or graduation final result can also apply for the AP LAWCET 5-year LLB and AP LAWCET 3-year LLB programmes, respectively. But they must have their final marksheets at the time of AP LAWCET counselling or admission.

AP LAWCET Result Evaluation Criteria 2026

To pass the AP LAWCET 2026, candidates must score a minimum of 35%. However, they need to note that admission to a particular college through the AP LAWCET exam will depend on the cutoff determined by the college authorities. 

Merit List

The AP LAWCET merit list will be released with the AP LAWCET results 2026. Based on the scores obtained by candidates, a merit list is prepared. Ranks are assigned to candidates according to the scores they obtain on the merit list. The AP LAWCET merit list 2026 is the same as the AP LAWCET rank list. 

Tie-breaking Criteria

In a case where two or more candidates achieve the same marks in the AP LAWCET, a tie-breaking criteria is used to decide their rankings. The tie-breaking criteria are mentioned below:

In the Andhra Pradesh LAWCET 2025 exam, around 27,253 candidates registered for the Law entrance exam and over 21,251 candidates appeared and around 20,826 students qualified. The Andhra Pradesh LAWCET exam was conducted for admission to 3-year LLB and 5-year LLB programs. The candidates who aspire to get admission through the AP LAWCET scores will have to follow the counselling process as mentioned below, 

  • Candidates need to register for the counselling process online. They will have to provide details such as name, address, qualifying exam details, APLAWCET scores, etc.
  • This allows them to select their choice of colleges for admission. However, the admission will be based on the merit achieved in the APLAWCET exam.
  • The APSCHE will release the seat allotment list based on the merit achieved and the preference of college. 
  • Candidates whose names will appear in the seat allotment list will have to visit the allocated college for seat confirmation and document verification. 

Below are some of the guidelines to be followed during the AP LAWCET counselling registration.

  • Candidates will be required to upload the documents as required for verification purposes.
  • The online verification of documents will be done, after which the verified candidates will have to participate in the web-option process to select their choice of colleges.
