IIEST Admission 2025: The Office of the Dean Academic at the Indian Institute of Engineering Science and Technology (IIEST), Shibpur, has officially announced the invitation for applications to the two-year full-time MBA program for the 2025-27 session. Formerly known as Bengal Engineering & Science University, Shibpur, IIEST offers an exceptional opportunity for students to pursue management education at one of India’s premier engineering institutes.
Core and Elective Management Papers
The MBA program at IIEST Shibpur spans two years (4 semesters) and includes a comprehensive curriculum that blends core management subjects with specialized electives. The program consists of 15 core management papers and six elective courses.
Students will have the opportunity to specialize in four key areas of management:
- Marketing Management
- Financial Management
- Human Resource Management
- Operations Management
Each specialization will have a defined number of seats, and students will be allotted their specialization based on academic performance up to the 2nd semester. They will also have the option to choose different Major-minor combinations within the specializations.
Eligibility Criteria: Academic and Exam Requirements
The MBA program is open to candidates of any nationality. To be eligible for admission, applicants must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Science, Humanities, Arts, Commerce, or Business Administration with at least 60% marks or a CGPA of 6.5 on a 10-point scale (55% marks/CGPA of 6.0 for SC/ST/PWD candidates) in their Honours/Major subject.
In addition, candidates must possess a valid score from one of the following management entrance exams:
- MAT
- CMAT
- CAT
- XAT
- GMAT
Students who are currently in their final year of graduation and meet the eligibility conditions can also apply. However, provisional admission will be granted if they are selected, and the admission will be canceled if they fail to produce the final result meeting the eligibility criteria by September 30, 2025 (subject to change).
Selection Process: Two-Tier Shortlisting and Interview
The selection process for the MBA program at IIEST Shibpur follows a two-tier process. Eligible candidates will first be shortlisted based on their academic records, which will account for 50% of the selection weightage. The shortlisted candidates will then be invited for an interview, which will also contribute 50% to the final selection score.
JoSAA counselling will start on June 3, a day after the JEE Advanced 2025 result is announced. The dates for JoSAA 2025 has been announced on the official website of JoSAA - josaa.nic.in. The counselling will include atleast 6 rounds of seat allotment.
The interview may be conducted either offline on campus or online, depending on the prevailing circumstances. Preference will be given to candidates who have demonstrated consistently strong academic performance throughout their academic career, starting from Class 10 onwards.

- Application Deadline: March 17, 2025 (by midnight)
- List of Eligible Candidates: March 21, 2025
- Interview Date: April 2, 2025
- Final List of Selected Candidates: April 11, 2025
