No. Unlike NEET, NBE conducts NEET PG exam in computer-based mode. NEET PG pattern is declared by NBE along with the official information brochure. Candidates have to exahusts allotted time of previous section before moving to next section. They can't choose to answer questions of any section as per their wish. In addition, one exahusted time of particular section, he/she can't go back and change answer in the section after time exahusts. As per time bound section, next section will start automatically once the allotted time exahusts. Whole NEET PG question paper is divided into 5 sections (A to E) with 40 questions each. The allotted time of particular section is 42 minutes.

Which subject in NEET PG syllabus contains maximum and minimum weightage?

NBE doesn't release the weightage for NEET PG exam. However, from last few years record, it can be said that maximum weightage is given to clinical subjects. A good number of questions are asked from general medicine, general surgury and paediatrics. Lesser number of questions are asked from anatomy, physiology etc. Candidates must note weightage for NEET PG syllabus may vary. Which part is difficult in NEET PG syllabus?

As such no section is easy in NEET PG syllabus. Some candidates may find clinical section easy while others may perceive para clinical as difficult. In reality, all the three sections clinical pre and para clinical are equally difficult and candidates have to devote good amount of time to prepare in and out of every subjects. It must be noted, a good number of questions are clinical based, so this section holds huge importance. Some topics of pre and para clinical are utmost important as lots of questions are from them. Point is candidates should prepare all three sections in such manner so that 90 percent questions can be answered easily. Last year, clinical section was difficult in comparision to other two sections.

I marked two answers for a question in NEET PG. One of the answers is correct. Will I get full marks for this question?

Candidates can't mark more than one answer as NEET PG is computer-based exam. Can I attempt any questions from any section in NEET PG exam?

No. As per time bound section limit, candidates will have to answer questions or exhausts time of previous section before proceeding for next section in NEET PG exam. Each section has particualar allotted time, i.e 42 minute in NEET PG exam. For an example, supppose a candidate wants to answer questions of B section, he/she can do only when he exahusts allotted 42 minute of section A.

Is it compulsory to attempt all questions in NEET PG exam?

No. There is no such compulsion for candidates. Candidates should attempt only those questions where they feel confident of right answer as there is a provision of negative marking too. Due to negative marking, overall score may reduce, affecting ranking of candidate. For every wrong answer, -1 mark is deducted in NEET PG exam.

Will there be negative marking in the NEET PG exam?

Yes. Mark is deducted for each wrong answer in NEET PG. For each right answer, candidates get 4 marks and for each wrong answer, 1 mark is deducted. As there is provision of the negative marking in exam, students are advised to answer only those questions where they feel confidence of right answer.

Will there be some changes in NEET PG 2026 pattern?

There is least chance National Board of Examinations (NBE) will make some changes in NEET PG 2026 pattern. The exam pattern is released along with the official information brochure online. NEET PG 2026 exam pattern: NBE will release NEET PG pattern 2026 along with the official information brochure. According to NEET PG pattern 2026, test paper will compriss 200 questions and candidates will get 3.5 hours to answer the paper. This year also time bound sections rule will be applicable. It means candidates will have to finish questions of a particular section first and only after he/she exausts allotted time of the particular section, he/she can move to other section. Students will not be allowed to review the questions or modify their responses for a section after the completion of its allotted time. NEET PG exam for 2026-27 is expected to be held in August 2026. NEET PG 2025 counselling is underway with round-1 seat allotment scheduled on November 22, 2025.
