NEET PG Supreme Court Hearing Update: SC to Hear Transparency Case on May 22, Single Shift Plea Follows on May 23

NEET PG SC hearing has been scheduled back-to-back on May 22 and 23, 2025. The Supreme Court hearing on May 22 will be held concerning the transparency and normalisation process, while the May 23 hearing will be conducted seeking the NEET PG 2025 single shift examination.
The Supreme Court of India has listed the NEET PG SC hearing for two days concerning two different petitions. The Apex Court will hear a plea seeking transparency and discrepancies in the normalisation process in the National Eligibility-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) on May 22, 2025. Further, the petition seeking SC verdict on conducting NEET PG 2025 exam in a single shift has been scheduled to be heard on May 23, 2025.
NEET PG 2024 SC Hearing Concerning Transparency on May 22
Originally filed in September 2024, the plea seeking transparency in the NEET PG examination has been postponed multiple times. Recently, the plea was scheduled to be heard on May 20, but was postponed. The SC Bench comprising Chief Justice of India Gavai and Justice AG Masih will now hear the petition on May 22, 2025.
Although the SC bench notified that the plea concerning NEET PG 2024 irregularities now seems infructuous, the outcome of the verdict would influence the current and upcoming batch of NEET PG examinations. The Supreme Court bench will hear the plea of 19 NEET PG applicants who want the Supreme Court's ruling on NEET PG examination discrepancies, such as transparency difficulties, the normalisation procedure, and last-minute modifications to the exam pattern.
NEET PG 2025 Supreme Court Hearing Urging Single Shift Exam on May 23
The Apex Court will hear the petition seeking NEET PG 2025 in a single shift on May 23, 2025. The petition has been postponed due to the hearing of the Waqf case. The United Doctors' Front challenged the two-shift exam format and urged the SC to order for single shift examination. The plea challenged the NBE's decision to conduct the examination in two shifts and use different question papers, arguing that the normalisation process used to score lacks clarity and undermines merit-based assessment, as reported by ABP Live.
