Pharmaceutics

Through this subject, the students will learn about the discipline of pharmacy. It also explains the process of turning a new chemical entity or old drug into medication and to be used safely and effectively by the patients.

Some other parts of the syllabus are:

• Intro to pharmacopoeias

• Metrology systems of weights and measures

• Packing of pharmaceuticals

• Size separation

• Mixing and homogenization

• Extraction and galenical

• Heat process to evaporation

Pharmaceutical chemistry

The students will learn about the intersection of chemistry like synthetic organic chemistry, pharmacology, and various other biological specialties. The intersection occurs when they are involved with the design, chemical synthesis, and bioactive molecules.

• General intro on inorganic compounds

• Major Intra & extracellular electrolytes

• Radiopharmaceutical and contrast media

• adulteration and drug evaluation

• Study of source, preparation, and identifications of fibre

• Study of senna, datura, cinnamon, fennel, etc

• A brief outline of therapeutic effects and pharmaceutical applications

Pharmacognosy

Through this subject, the student will learn about pharmacognosy, which means the study of medicines and crude drugs produced from natural resources. Natural resources like plants, microbes, and animals. The subject also helps understand the analysis of biological, chemical, biochemical, and physical properties of resources.

• Definition, the scope of pharmacognosy

• Classifications of drugs

• adulteration and drug evaluation

• A brief outline of occurrence, distribution of therapeutic tests, and pharmaceutical applications

• Collection and preparation of crude oil

• Role of minerals and water in life processes

• Brief concept of normal and abnormal metabolism

Biochemistry and clinical pathology

The students will learn about the complete concept of molecular levels of the chemical process associated with living cells. The scope of this subject is providing the biochemical facts and principles to understand the metabolism in pathological and physiological conditions.

• Role of proteins, polypeptides, and amino acids

Human anatomy and physiology

The subject helps in understanding the structure and description of the human body. Human anatomy explains the body’s structure, and physiology explains how body structure looks at different levels, i.e., it focuses on the body’s functions.

Pharmacology & toxicology

Through this subject, the student will learn about pharmacology and toxicology. Pharmacology is the study that emphasises the therapeutic effects of chemicals, particularly drugs. Toxicology is the study that highlights the adverse effects of the chemicals and risk assessment of pharmaceuticals. Under these subjects, students will study the scope of pharmacology, routes of administration of drugs, absorption of drugs, and the factors affecting them.

Pharmaceutical jurisprudence

Under these subjects, students will learn about the rules and regulations of pharmacy, pharmacy practice, and drugs and pharmaceuticals. The main objective of this subject is to consolidate and amend the laws related to narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances. The jurisprudence title of this subject means a guide used by lawyers and judges to interpret specific laws that require interpretation correctly.

Health education and community pharmacy

The subject provides knowledge related to health education, which is meant to improve and maintain health. The community pharmacy implies a place where the practice of pharmacy occurs under the direct supervision of a pharmacist.

Drug store and business management

The subject is new in the study of pharmacy introduced by the pharmacy council of India and concerned with the distribution of goods and services produced by the industry. The basic concept of this subject is to carry goods and people from one place to another. The students will learn about the basic principles of inventory control through this subject.

Pharmaceutics I and II

Students will learn about the preformulation studies of drug substances, proteins, and peptides, metal and organic molecular complexes complexation, solubilization of nonelectrolyte, and optimization of statistical methods and factorial design. The students will also understand solid-state pharmaceutics at the molecular, particle, and bulk levels.

Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics

Biopharmaceutics and pharmacokinetics

The students will learn about biopharmaceutics which means a major branch in pharmaceutical sciences relates between the physicochemical properties of a drug in dosage form and observe clinical response after its administration. The students will understand that the plasma concentration of the drug is the basic concept of pharmacokinetics in this subject.

Pharmaceutical chemistry

Pharmaceutical chemistry

Pharmaceutical chemistry is of two types such as organic chemistry and medicinal chemistry. Under this, students will understand the design and synthesis of biologically active molecules. This study aims to produce new chemical molecules, enable the discovery of new pharmaceuticals, and expand the portfolio of chemical drugs.

Pharmaceutical analysis

Pharmaceutical analysis

The students will understand the study of pharmaceutical analysis, which means analytical chemistry dealing with drugs both as bulk drug analysis and as pharmaceutical products. The students need to concentrate on the methods and techniques required to determine the composition of various chemical compounds used in the pharmaceutical industry.

Pharmacognosy

The students will learn how medicines or crude drugs are produced from natural resources such as plants, microbes, and animals. The study of pharmacognosy also includes analysis of the natural resources and their biological, biochemical, and physical properties. The students will also understand its extraction and isolation techniques.

The cardiologist is not the same as the cardiac surgeon. The cardiologist deals with diagnosing and treating heart defects, coronary artery diseases, electrophysiology, heart failure, etc.
