IBPS PO is conducted for recruitment of candidates as Probationary Officer/Management Trainee posts in 17 participating public sector banks in India. IBPS PO selection process comprises two stages -online examinations and interview. The online examination is conducted in two phases –preliminary exam and mains exam. According to IBPS PO 2019 selection process, candidates qualifying the preliminary exam will have to appear for the mains exam. On the basis of the marks of mains exam, candidates are called for the Interview. Each stage of IBPS PO selection process 2019 is explained on this page in details.

The stages of IBPS PO selection procedure are given below –

 

IBPS PO Selection Process 2019 – Preliminary Exam

The preliminary exam is the first stage of IBPS PO selection process. All registered candidates are required to appear for the preliminary exam. According to IBPS PO exam pattern, the preliminary examination comprises three sections – English Language, Quantitative Aptitude and Reasoning Ability. The test is held for total 100 marks. Candidates have to qualify in each of the three tests by securing the minimum IBPS PO cut off decided the examination authority. Candidates should note that the marks secured in the preliminary exam is not counted for final selection.

IBPS PO Selection Process 2019 – Mains Exam

The mains exam is conducted for candidates qualifying the preliminary exam. IBPS PO mains exam comprises both objective and descriptive papers. Total marks of the test is 225. Candidates who will score the required cut off in the mains exam are called for Interview. Before the completion of the interview process, the scores of mains exam are not shared with candidates. The marks obtained in the mains exam are considered for final merit list.

IBPS PO Selection Process – Interview

Shortlisted candidates of mains exam are called for Interview. The interview is conducted by the participating organisations which is co-ordinated by the Nodal Bank. The total marks allotted for Interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in Interview is not less than 40% (35% for SC/ST/OBC/PWBD candidates).

Candidates should carry the following documents in original and its self-attested photocopies at the time of the interview.

  • Interview call letter
  • IBPS PO application form
  • Proof of date of birth
  • Marksheet of graduation
  • Caste certificate (If applicable)
  • Disability certificate (If applicable)
  • Experience certificate if any

Allotment Process of IBPS PO

  • Final selection of candidates for IBPS PO is done based on the scores of mains exam and interview.
  • The weightage given to the mains exam and interview is 80:20
  • Besides qualifying the mains exam and interview, candidates should secure higher rank in the merit list for final allotment
  • Depending on the number of vacancies and business needs of the participating banks, candidates are provisionally allotted to one of the banks.
  • Merit-cum-preference is also given importance while allotting banks to candidates.
  • Provisional allotment is done on the basis of final vacancies reported by the participating banks.
  • The provisional allotment is subjected to candidates’ fulfilling the criteria of participating banks and identity verification
  • The offer letter is issued to candidates by the participating banks
  • A reserve list of approximately 10% vacancies under each category is maintained
  • Wherein, two or more candidates have the same score, merit is decided as per date of birth (Candidates senior in age is placed before the junior one).
  • Provisionally allotted candidates can be posted anywhere in India/outside the country as per the discretion of the participating banks.

Yes, the IBPS had released the IBPS PO main admit card 2025 on October 1. The candidates can download their admit card to know their exam centre, exam date and shift timing.
