B.E. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2023

It is the best college for CSE, ECE, and IT, with 90% guaranteed placements.
Placements: I'm from St. Joseph's Institute of Technology, OMR, Chennai. I am a B.E mechanical student, and most of the companies that came for on-campus are IT companies. In rare cases, core companies come here with high eligibility criteria or with many interview rounds. Many students are willing to join IT companies itself. Last year, 70% of placements were recorded in the mechanical department. For CSE, IT, and ECE, this college is the best choice. You will get an offer letter in your 3rd year itself.
Infrastructure: The college is fully equipped with high-end labs and a library with a centralised AC. You will get free Wi-Fi in the library and hostel. The classrooms have enough ventilation and lighting. It will be easy for students to adopt the environment.
Faculty: In our college, all the faculty are doctorate and Ph.D. pursuing members. They have a minimum experience of 7 to 8 years, and they also worked in various core industries. They will teach us more practically. Exams are frequently conducted in our college after each lesson.

It is a good campus with opportunities.
Placements: About 65% of students got placed in our batch. The highest salary package is offered by Balmer Lawrie with 50 LPA. Next is BPCL with 21 LPA. Top companies are Reliance Industries, L&T, Godrej, Caterpillar, and IT companies like TCS, CTS, Infosys & Mindtree. The internship is low. Business analyst, GET, management trainee, developer, and data analyst are the roles offered.
Infrastructure: Free Wi-Fi for laptops is provided in our college. Labs are good for class not for projects. Library is great on campus. There is a centenary library near our campus where you can find the books. Hostels are not bad. Food is decent. Hostel service is okay. Many sports clubs are present on campus. Many sports events happen every year.
Faculty: Staff members are good. Teaching is not bad. You have choice to choose staff members. Curriculum is the worst and is up to industry standard. Semester exams are good and easy to clear if you understand the basics. The pass percentage is more than 85% it may change depends on the subjects.
Other: The syllabus must be improved. Cultural is the best part of college. Many technical events are happens every month. Many clubs are present on campus. You can improve your management skills through these.

There were 90% placements in the year 2020.
Placements: Most of our batchmates got the job in the year 2019. In later years in 2020, most of my friends were placed both in core and IT jobs. But I was unfortunate to get selected in it. And later in September, I was selected in TVS Groups to work at the standard organisation.
Infrastructure: The workshop was good experience of it because the machine was good to learn. When you were in the first year, you try to learn everything. There will be a machining, electrical, and carpentry shop. The last lab will be metrology lab.
Faculty: Exams were so tough but still, the staff members teach you to pass. The red building will be the best on the Anna University campus. It will be good spot for the photo shoot and its back side with grass which we had it. The hubs will be available to relax and use laptops.
Other: You will get full information and freedom. The leave will be guaranteed to everyone whenever you will find it necessary.

Good college to study in.
Placements: 60 percentage students are placed in core branch companies like caterpillar, CEAT, Fiat, Tvs. and many more offers come from non-tech companies like TCS, Congo. And 50 percentage students get internships and they are also get preplacement orders which is very helpful for students.
Infrastructure: The campus of CEG looks great because NSS units ( 12 units) are also maintaining the campus. In every month end they clean the campus. High-speed Wi-Fi are available in hostel& laboratory. Libraries have all main books in each departments. The books are all of recent edition which is very easy to understand. Classrooms have fans, lights, projectors.
Faculty: The teachers as far as I feel are good. Few of teachers are average. The average teachers are not interested to teach. The course curriculum is good and the students will be industry ready.
Other: The cultural programmes organised here are awesome. Too much enjoying and refreshing. I chose this course because I am inspired by automobile engines. The scope of improvement is only on part of the teachers.

The best University to improve ourselves academically.
Placements: Approximately 90% of my batch got placed. The highest package offered was 17LPA and the lowest was 2LPA while the average package was 3-4 LPA. Some of the top recruiters are Delphi Tvs, Ford, Daimler, Tcs, Cts, Amazon, Zoho, IBM, and Accenture. In my batch, 5 to 6 students got an internship from Daimler and 10 from Zoho and 3 from amazon and 12 from google which was off-campus. Graduate engineering trainees, junior engineers, and application engineers are the top roles offered.
Infrastructure: CEG has high-speed Wi-Fi and a specialised computing center to satisfy all computational and technological needs. CEG's central library has a large number of academic books and journals and also has access to e-books. There are nearly 6-7 hostels which cost around 40,000 INR/year. The food is cheap and is too good for the cost. The campus has extra-ordinary athletic ground and passionate sports teams. I'm a part of Hockey team, .
Faculty: All teaching staffs are well experienced and educated, most of them are Ph.D. holders. The quality and teaching were quite good and the course curriculum is perfect to fetch the job. It was industry4.0 oriented. The overall experience was quite good.

I am disappointed with placements and teaching.
Placements: In the mechanical engineering branch, around 60% of the students got placed. The highest salary package offered is 36 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is 3 LPA and the average salary package offered is around 5 LPA. Top recruiting companies of our college are Microsoft, Caterpillar, CityCorp, ExxonMobil, Hyundai, Whirlpool and Ashok Leyland. All companies offered graduate engineer trainee role. In our course, the highest salary package offered is 12 LPA, the lowest salary package offered is 3.5 LPA and the average salary package offered is 4.5 LPA. Students got an internship in companies like Google, Caterpillar, Royal Bank of Scotland, Hyundai, Saint Gobain, TVS and many other companies.
Infrastructure: It is the oldest engineering in India, but it has all the equipment related to our academics, including the most advanced and costlier equipment. Classrooms and labs are good. Wi-Fi facility is not good, and it can't be accessed in many areas as the download speed is very slow. Since it is a government college, students can't expect clean hostel rooms. Hostels are very old, and the rooms are very small. However, international hostels are good. Mess contains mostly typical Tamil Nadu dishes, and it will be difficult for other state students. The medical centre will not work 24 hours, and also they won't take much care.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were quite knowledgeable, but they were not that helpful. They just taught us how to score marks in exams. Concept-wise, teaching quality is not as expected from one of the topmost engineering colleges in India. Students were not able to face even the basic questions in the interview. I think the course curriculum is relevant, but I don't know much about industrial applications. Almost all the important and basic topics were included in the syllabus.

The campus has good infrastructure, but placements are dissatisfactory.
Placements: I didn't get placements even though I had good grades. None of the companies visits the campus to hire mechanical engineering students. So regarding placements, it is not a good campus. It is good regarding faculty members. Lots of companies visit the campus, but they only offer placements for computer science students and electrical and electronics students.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is very good. Everything is available inside the campus. The library is good and spacious. Classrooms are wide and comfortable. There are lots of labs. There is an indoor and outdoor ground available for playing. The medical facility is also available there.
Faculty: Faculty members in the college are good. They are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They are always helpful. They use a unique method for teaching. Overall faculty members are good. They are less when compared to students strength. However, they are enough to handle the situation so it is good.
Other: Events and fest are conducted in the college every year. The campus crowd is huge. Campus surroundings are good enough. Scholarships are available only for the native state students. Students from other states are not eligible for the scholarships.

Hi,
The admission is also dependent on your caste. If you belong to general category, then your cut off should be at least 198 or above. For BC, you need to have a cut off of 196 or above.
For MBC, you need to have 190 and above.
For SC it is 185 and above and for ST it is 180 and above.
