BHU BA Courses & Fees 2025: Dates, Eligibility, Admission, Application

The tuition fees for BA (Hons) is INR 11,900-INR 57,200 at BHU. The total fees includes tuition fee, hostel (if applicable), security deposit, library fee, registration fee, etc. This fee range includes the BA (Hons) fee in the affiliated colleges, too.

Candidates need to upload scanned copies of a few documents during the registration procedure. The documents must be in PDF / JPEG format. Below is the list of documents.

• Matriculation or its equivalent certificate.
• Class 12 mark sheet.
• Caste Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/EWS) and income certificate (SC/ST) issued by the appropriate authority.
• PwD Certificate (if applicable).
• BHU employee certificate (if applicable).
• Certificate of admission under sports quota is claimed.
• Scanned copy of a recent colour photograph & signature.

BHU UET counselling process is carried out completely in online mode. Candidates can register for the counselling by following below-mentioned steps:

STEP 1: Candidates need to visit the BHU admission portal to register for the online counselling procedure. To create login credentials, candidates have to provide their NTA application number, and other details along with email ID and create a password to activate the registration account.

STEP 2: Login by entering the Email ID and password and start filling out the application form and upload the required documents. The documents to be uploaded (PDF/JPEG format) are:

STEP 4: After fee payment, preference entry page opens. Candidates can fill in their preferences separately for all the programmes in this form. Seat allotment result is then announced by the university.

BHU has a dediacted placement cell which invites prominent companies for the placement drives. During the Banaras Hindu University 2025 placement drive, more than 65 companies participated. Some of the eminent recruiters during the 2025 placements included Cognizant, Genpact, Adani Wilmar, IBM, Infosys, Wipro, Deloitte, KPMG, etc. 

BHU placements have received 79% positive reviews on Shiksha.com. The university has not yet released the course-wise placement data for the Batch of 2026. In 2025, UG 3-year and 4-year students received median packages of INR 8.5 LPA and INR 9 LPA, respectively, as per the NIRF Report 2026. The median packages of PG 2-year and 3-year students in 2025 were INR 9 LPA and INR 14 LPA, respectively. 

One of the reviewers on Shiksha.com (Gaurav; BA Batch of 2026) mentioned that "70-80% placement rate is confirmed. However, BSc students who reviewed BHU on Shiksha.com mentioned that there are low to no placement opportunities for some BSc specialisations.

Candidates may not be allowed to apply for another course at BHU in the next year. Aspirants may not be allowed to pursue two degree courses at the same time. The applications can be accepted for Banaras Hindu University Diploma or certificate courses. Students must cancel admission in the running course before applying for another course. 

Banaras Hindu University offers traditional courses, such as Sanskrit and Philosophy. Candidates can pursue courses at UG, PG and diploma levels. BHU was the first university in India to offer modern and traditional subjects. Students can pursue programmes from modern subjects, such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. 

M.D. cutoff is based on NEET PG scores for admission to the MD and MS courses. As per NEET PG cutoff the Round 1 closing ranks for top courses including MD in Radiodiagnosis closed at 159 and MD in Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy closed at 388 for the General category All India candidates. For admission to a BHU BA (Hons) course, aspirants need to complete the CUET-UG application process. NTA carries out the registrations in online mode. Eligible students can visit NTA CUET website to apply. The application process includes registration, form filling, document upload, and payment of the application fees. Further, to submit the application successfully, candidates must pay the fee on time. NEET PG 2025 cut off has been reduced in comparision to last few year cut off. The cut off is the minimum marks required to qualify for the exam in that particular caregory. Only candidates who score the minimum marks can participate in seat allocation process. The table given below contains the cut off for each category:

The required score would depend on the category, course and round. The BHU cutoff 2026 was released for the 4th  round for admission to several PG-level courses. The cutoff was out for different AI quota categories. 

For the General AI category, the round 4 cutoff ranged from 6 to 260. Hence, students who have a score of at least 6 could gain admission at BHU in the third round.

Yes, foreign national students can get admission in the UG and PG courses in BHU. 15% of supernumerary seats in each programme are reserved for foreign nationals. Candidates under the Foreign Students category must register through the Foreign Students' Registry only. Admissions under the foreign students' category will be merit-based. They do not have to appera in CUET exam. 

Yes, it is necessary that the candidates seeking admission to BA Hons in Economics/Mathematics/Statistics studied Maths in the qualifying examination. For other specialisations, candidates without maths in Class 12 shall also be eligible to apply. For verification purposes. Candidates also have to provide the academic certificates during form filling and admission confirmation or counselling.

Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is one of the top-ranking universities in the country. In the NIRF rankings in 2023, BHU is ranked in fifth position under the "university" category. BHU has become more vibrant and inclusive since the time co-education was introduced in its Faculty of Social Science and Faculty of Arts. While the IIT-BHU still has a more conservative culture, BHU offers its students more freedom and facilities.

Students are free to eat at any mess of their hostel. The cost of a general diet is INR 40 - 45 per day. The cost of a special diet (served twice a week) is INR 50 - 90 per day. Students with friends at IIT have access to higher quality food.

BHU is the largest residential university in Asia, with over 70 hostels. Students ranked under 300 - 400 are easily inducted into hostels.
