IIT Bombay BTech is available in over 10 specialisations. Some of the popular course specialisations are Computer Science & Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, etc. IIT Bombay BTech admission is done based on merit in JEE Mains and JEE Advanced. Yes, IIT Bombay offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to UG students. It is awarded to a maximum of 25% of sanctioned intake. For Dual degree, it is available only up to fourth year.
Merit Criterion: For new entrants of BDes their UCEED Rank, will be the criterion. In subsequent years, the criterion will be their academic performance during the preceding academic year.

The admission process for BTech begins with the release of the JEE Main application form. The notification for the national-level test is usually released around Sep/Oct. Admission to the institute after Class 12 is open for BTech, BS and BDes courses. After completing Class 12, candidates must qualify JEE Main, JEE Advanced followed by the JoSAA Counselling for BTech and BS courses. For BDes, UCEED score is required for admission.

1: IIT Bombay BTech Application Process
To apply for BTech at IIT Bombay, students are required to apply via JEE Main, followed by the JEE Advanced application. The process of application for JEE Mains consists of three steps:
- Registration
- Form filling
- Document upload
- Payment of application fees.
1.1: Go to official JEE website and select ‘Registration for JEE (Main) 2025’ .

2: Selection Criteria
The selection process for BTech at IITs is merit-based with the institute accepting JEE Advanced Scores scores for the same. Those who clear JEE Main can appear for JEE Advanced. Those who meet IIT Bombay BTech cutoff can participate in JoSAA counselling for seat allocation.
3: Admission Confirmation & Fee Payment
After counselling, pay IIT Bombay BTech tuition fee -INR 8 L for seat confirmation. In addition, the tuition fee for the integrated BTech courses is INR 10 L. The above fee is taken from the official website and may change.

IIT Bombay BTech admission is through JEE Main and Advanced only. There is no separate application fee of the institute. To take the JEE Mains examination, students should pay the application fee. JEE Main application fee is between Rs 500 and 1000 depending upon the gender and category of students.
Students who qualify Mains become eligible to take the JEE Advanced exam. The application fee for JEE Advanced is Rs 1600 for female and reserved category candidates, and INR 3200 for other candidates. The fee payment can be done online.
The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for B.Tech. in Civil Engineering at IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology other than General category are - 1633 for OBC, 851 for SC, 257 for ST, 693 for EWS, 156 for PWD. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.
For 2022, cut off was 1406 for General category candidates in All India quota for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering in IIT Bombay - Indian Institute of Technology. The various processes involved in JoSAA 2026 counselling are registration, choice filling, seat allocation, and online reporting. The institute offers Merit-cum-Means Scholarship to a maximum of 25% of the sanctioned intake of UG and MSc students. Facilities of Free Messing is also available to SC/ ST students under which they get an exemption from paying the tuition fees. Admission to BTech courses in IIT Bombay is subject to fulfiment of the eligibility requirements for JEE Main and JEE Advanced. The students who have passed Class 12 in Science stream with at least 75% aggregate (65% aggregate for SC/ST/PwD) are eligible to apply. Candidate should have passed the qualifying exam from a recognised board. In addition, it is also crucial that the applicant hold the relevant documents as a proof of eligibility.
Yes, the parents can contact the IIT Bombay admission office and they might get to stay at the guest house. The institute has guest romms in every hostel. To book a room, parents can visit the gymkhana website. If the guest room has been booked in the same hostel as that of the candidate, then keys can be collected directly from the hall manager on payment of respective charges.
In case, where room is booked in another hostel, then it is advisable to go to the HCU (Hostel Coordinationg unit ) for booking receipt (signed) and then to the hall manager of respective hostel. For the parents, the per day charge is INR 50 (without mattress) and INR 90 (with mattress).

Step 1: IIT Bombay BTech Application Process 2025
BTech and BTech (Dual Degree) aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) through the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in).
Step 2: Entrance Exams
Candidates need to first qualify JEE Main followed by JEE Advanced. Aspirants qualifying both the entrance-exams are required to register for Counselling.
Step 3: JoSAA Counselling & Seat Allotment
Shortlisted candidates after registering for JoSAA Counselling are offered seat. The seat allotment is conducted after the release of cutoff.
The schedule of JEE Main 2026 application form has been announced on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in. NTA released the JEE Main application form 2026 on October 31, 2025. JEE Main 2026 session 2 application form will be released around last week of January and the last date to apply will be February last week. National Testing Agency NTA has released the syllabus of JEE Main 2026 on the official website.
