B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering - Batch of 2028

2024-28 batch NIT Durgapur Satisfactory review.
Placements: My department is electrical engineering, which is one of the strictest branches at NIT Durgapur. Around 78% of students were placed last year (2025) with an average package of 15 LPA and the highest package of 40 LPA. For computer science engineering, the highest package is 70 LPA.
Infrastructure: The campus is good with all types of sports facilities like cricket, football, chess, badminton, table tennis, hockey, kho-kho, volleyball, etc. Hostels are satisfactory with good internet speed. A 24/7 ambulance and medical unit is also available. Classrooms have ACs and are well-lit and ventilated.
Faculty: Teachers are knowledgeable and helpful, often guiding us. The syllabus is also well-structured and well-planned. The pass percentage is 35%. With proper study, anyone can score good grades. The environment for education is really nice. All students are oriented toward studying.
Other: There are 2 big fests, Aarohan and Recstacy, with other smaller fests like Recrave Summit, etc.

It has decent placements but needs a change in curriculum. It has good infrastructure.
Placements: In the B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering course, 85 percent of students get placed. The highest package offered in Electrical Engineering is 52 LPA. The lowest package offered is 5 LPA, and the average package offered is 12 LPA. Top recruiting companies like Tata Power, BPCL, HPCL, and Qualcomm visit the college for placements. Many students got internships in ICICI Bank, and a few students got internships in Microsoft.
Infrastructure: In the first year, the hostel infrastructure is decent. There is a 5-floor hostel with table tennis, basketball, and volleyball facilities. There are 3 sharing rooms with a bed, a table, and an almirah. The toilet facilities are average. The food is decent in the first-year hostel, and we get a meal 3 times a day. We do get snacks in the evening. The hostel provides Wi-Fi, whose speed is actually very frustrating. Our department has a total of 12 labs on our campus, and classes are held at the new academic building.
Faculty: Teachers here are very helpful, but some professors are rude. Overall, teachers here are knowledgeable and qualified. The course curriculum is not so relevant in terms of industrial readiness. Semester exams are somewhat difficult here. The pass percentage is approximately 85-90 percent.
Other: I wish they could improve the course structure by teaching students things that are important for industries and not what the old education system conveys.

Very satisfied with college faculty members and there are good placements.
Placements: As I am studying in 2nd year I haven't talked with our super seniors completely. But I asked once they told me placements in our college in the last year were terrible compared to other years. The highest package is 32 LPA. The lowest package is 7 LPA, and average is 10 LPA. Top recruiters of our college are TCS and Wipro.
Infrastructure: We have no Wi-Fi in addition we have jammers to block the network. Labs are well-designed and maintained properly. Classrooms are really good with projectors including clear board, nice ventilation, and very comfortable. Library is also very good having many books.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful to us. They have nice qualifications and are friendly when teaching us. They also help us in lab practical very well. Curriculum is relevant and does help in keeping students industry-ready. Exams are really tough but you could pass if you study well.

Very satisfied with the college.
Placements: As I am studying in 1st year, I haven't talked with our super seniors completely, but slightly. I asked once, and they told me that placements in our college last year were terrible compared to other years. The highest is 32 LPA, the lowest is 7 LPA, and the average is 10 LPA. The top recruiters of our college are TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, and Axiom OI. Software engineer, full-stack developer, data scientist, and AI engineer are the offered roles in our course.
Infrastructure: We have no Wi-Fi; in addition, we have jammers to block the network. The labs are well-designed and properly maintained. The classrooms are really good with projectors included and a clean board, and there is nice airflow through the windows. They are very comfortable. The library is also good with books; they have more books than any college after GITAM.
Faculty: Teachers are really helpful to us, and they have nice qualifications. They are very friendly when teaching us, and they also help us in lab practicals very well. Our course curriculum is fully relevant, and it does help in keeping students industry-ready. It is really tough, but you could pass if you study well. I ask about the pass percentage.
Other: I chose this course out of pure passion for being a chip designer, and the best thing about our course is the course itself. If the faculty of the 1st year goes easy on us in labs, then it would be a great help for us to improve. Events are indeed well-maintained; I love the annual day.

I am satisfied with the college faculty. Placements were only bad in 2023.
Placements: I am studying in 1st year, and I haven't talked with our super seniors completely. The average package is 10 LPA. The top recruiting companies of our college are TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, Cognizant, and Axiom AI. I have no idea about internships. The college life of NIT Durgapur is nice.
Placements: Every year, around 84% of students get placed in well-known firms. The highest package offered by our college is 51 LPA, and the average package is 13 LPA, according to 2024 data. Companies like BPCL, HPCL, BHEL, IOCL, WBSEDCL, Texas Instruments, Reliance Industries Limited, Tata Power, and many more companies come to our college for placements. This year, internships offered to students are very few.
Infrastructure: We get facilities like Wi-Fi in our hostels, great laboratories, and high-tech classrooms with air-conditioners, projectors, and blackboards. We also have the best library where we can go, study and can borrow books for study. The medical facility is also good, and we can avail them ourselves from the medical unit. There is a canteen inside campus and outside the campus.
Faculty: Faculty members in our college are very educated and qualified. They help us in any way possible in a humble manner. The quality of teaching is top-notch. The course curriculum is very much relevant, and it makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are quite difficult, but if one can study regularly, one can get good marks.

NIT Durgapur – Honest student review
Placements: Placement is decent. At least 250+ companies visit every year, with their minimum criteria being a CGPA above 75 percent. Many students from this college are placed in esteemed companies giving high packages, and many more facilities. About 70 percent of students are placed every year.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure should have been better. Labs and other classrooms are old. A canteen facility is available but a little costly. Hostel bathrooms are cleaned twice daily, and rooms are good with proper ventilation. However, mess food is not that good and should be improved.
Faculty: Many clubs are there. Apart from that, in the fest, you can portray your talent in various fields. It also makes your college life bearable. Per exam, four exams take place, including theory and lab, divided by 60 and 25 marks. The rest are for attendance and assignments.
Other: I chose this college because it’s one of the top 10 NITs.
