WBJEE 2026: West Bengal Joint Entrance Examinations Board (WBJEEB) conducts WBJEE as an annual examination for BTech admissions. The eligible candidates are offered admissions into the participating Government and Self-financing institutes of the state. All admissions will be done based on WBJEE scores. However, upto 10% of the approved seats in the Self-Financed colleges will be available for JEE Main qualified candidates.

WBJEE 2026 exam date will be announced soon. The authorities will conduct WBJEE 2026 as a pen-and-paper-based at various exam centres.The online WBJEE 2026 application form will be released at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee. The required details have to be filled out and submitted in the application form before the final date, which will be announced soon. Registered candidates will have to bring their WBJEE 2026 admit card to the exam centre. The authorities are expected to release the WBJEE 2026 exam pattern and syllabus soon. What is WBJEE?

West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a state-level exam conducted by WBJEEB. The exam is a gateway for candidates seeking admission into B.Tech and B.Pharma courses at universities, government colleges and self-financing engineering & technical institutions in West Bengal. All candidates will have to qualify the entrance examination to be eligible for admission. However, JEE Main qualified candidates who meet the basic eligibility criteria will also be able to register for the counselling and admission process.

Jadavpur University accepts WBJEE scores for admissions into the BTech courses. However, the 12th standard qualifying exam eligibility criteria is minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (45% for reserved category). The students should also have minimum 60% in Mathematics and a pass mark in English.

Marking Scheme

Category I - Each correct answer will be awarded one mark. An incorrect response will yield a loss of ¼ mark. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield -1/4 (25% negative) marks.

Category II - Only one option is correct, the correct response yields two marks. An incorrect response will yield -1/2 (25% negative) marks. For any combination of responses with more than one option, the said answer will be treated as incorrect and will yield a -1/2 (25% negative) mark.

Category III - One or more options may be correct. Correct responses will be given 2 (two) marks. There is no negative marking.

Q:   Is there an age limit for WBJEE?
A: 

There is an age limit for WBJEE admissions. Students will have to be minimum 17 years old during the admission year. There is no upper age limit. However, for Marine Engineering  course, there is an upper age limit of 25 years.

Q:   Is WBJEE an annual exam?
A: 

Yes, WBJEE is an annual exam. The authorities conduct the state-level engineering entrance examination once a year, in one day. The exam will not be held more than once in a year. The details of the WBJEE exam date is announced online to let the students know the examination schedule.

Q:   Is WBJEE held in other states?
A: 

WBJEE is mostly held in 47 examination zones in the various cities of West Bengal. However, the exam is also conducted in Assam (Silchar) and Tripura (Agartala). For the exam, the students will have to fill out three zones as per the preference.

WBJEE 2026 application form will be released at wbjeeb.nic.in/wbjee, tentatively in January 2026. To participate in the entrance exam, the candidates will have to fill out and submit the application form. No offline applications will be available. The given steps can be followed to fill out the application form of WBJEE 2026.

  • Registration: To be registered for the exam, the candidates will have to visit the official website and click on the application form link. The basic details have to be filled out to complete the registration process. The application form number will be created after the registration is completed.
  • Filling out the Form: Next, the candidates will have to log in and fill out their application form with personal, academic and contact details. The preferred exam cities also have to be selected for centre allocation.
  • Uploading of Documents: After filling out the form, the candidates will have to upload their scanned photograph and signature.
  • Payment of Fee: The required WBJEE 2026 application fee has to be paid online, i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card.
  • Downloading the Confirmation Page: Finally, the confirmation page has to be downloaded and printed out.

WBJEE 2026 application form correction facility will be open for all registered candidates. Through the online correction facility, the candidates will be able to edit/correct their details submitted in the form. However, the candidates will not be able to edit their submitted basic information, i.e., name, gender, date of birth, parents' names, domicile, etc. Since it is a one time facility, the candidates are advised to be careful while correcting their details.

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria

The authorities will soon announce the official WBJEE 2026 eligibility criteria. Candidates are advised to check the eligibility criteria before registering for the entrance examination. Candidates who do not meet the eligibility norms will not be considered for admission into the participating institutes of the state. The criteria might vary for different courses and at the institute level. 

Eligibility criteria for appearing in WBJEE 2026

Nationality

  • The candidate must be an Indian citizen

Age restriction

  • Candidate must be at least 17 years of age as of the admission year. There is no upper age limit for appearing in the exam.
  • However, for admission to the Marine Engineering Course, the lower age limit is 17 years as of December 31, 2026, and the upper age limit is 25 years as of December 31, 2026.   

WBJEE 2026 Eligibility Criteria for B.Tech Admissions

  • The candidates should have passed Class 12 or equivalent with Physics and Mathematics along with any one of the listed below subjects as compulsory subjects with individual pass marks (in both theory and practical wherever applicable) in all three subjects in regular class mode. 
    • Chemistry
    • Biotechnology
    • Biology
    • Computer Science
    • Computer Application
    • Technical Vocational Subject
  • Must have secured a minimum of 45 per cent marks (40 per cent in the case of candidates belonging to reserved categories such as SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD) in the above three subjects taken together.
  • Candidates should have qualified in English in the Class 12 exam with at least 30 per cent marks.
  • The Board of the Qualifying Examination must be recognised by the Central Government or the State Government concerned.

While filling out the WBJEE application form, the students will have to upload their passport size photograph and signature. During the final few days before the examination, the students are advised to focus on those topics and concepts that they have already prepared. New chapters should be avoided. Q:   How can I boost my time management skills for WBJEE?
A: 

To improve their time management skills, the students can attempt WBJEE mock tests and sample papers. Solving the mock tests and sample papers within the time limit will help the students know how to allot their time for each section so that they complete the paper on time.

Q:   Which documents have to be presented at the WBJEE exam centre?
A: 

At the WBJEE exam centre, the students will have to bring a print out of their admit card and one original valid identity proof. If the students do not have these documents with them at the centre, then they will not be allowed to enter and attempt the examination.

Q:   I forgot my WBJEE admit card. Can I show my digital copy?
A: 

No, digital copies of the WBJEE admit card will not be accepted at the exam centre. All students will have bring a physical copy of their hall ticket to show the invigilators. Students are advised to keep their hall ticket ready for the examination.

Q:   How is the final WBJEE answer key prepared?
A: 

The final answer key of WBJEE will be prepared after the objections against the provisional key are checked by the authorities. To prepare the result, the final WBJEE answer key will be used. The authorities will not accept any objections against the final key.

Q:   Will the WBJEE question paper be available online?
A: 

Yes, the authorities will release the WBJEE question paper online. Students will be able to access the official question paper to know the type of questions that are likely to be present in the examination. The previous years' question papers can also be checked to help with the preparation process.

Q:   Can I request to review my WBJEE scores?
A: 

If the students have any grievance about their WBJEE score, then they can raise a query through email to information [at]wbjeeb.nic.in. The grievances have to be submitted within 24 hours of the result declaration. Along with the grievance, the students will also have to attach copies of their OMR, rank card, question booklet number and its series code along with the question wise calculation of the score.

Q:   Will the WBJEE result be sent through post or email?
A: 

WBJEE result will not be sent through post or email. The students will have to log in using their roll number and password to access the WBJEE result. The result has to be downloaded in the form of rank card.

Q:   Will the authorities announce the WBJEE toppers?
A: 

Yes, the WBJEEB authorities will announce the WBJEE 2026 toppers. The highest scoring students will be given the top ranks in WBJEE 2026. In the previous year, Aniruddha Chakrabarti secured the first rank in WBJEE, followed by Samyajyoti Biswas and Dishaanth Basu in the second and third rank. The list of the top 10 rankers in WBJEE 2026 will be released by the authorities.

Q:   Is the WBJEE counselling held online?
A: 

WBJEEB conducts the WBJEE counselling process online. All qualified candidates have to register for the counselling and fill out their choice of colleges and courses. The counselling fee also has to be paid online, i.e., through net banking/credit card/debit card. No offline counselling will be held.

Q:   What after WBJEE seat allotment?
A: 

After the seats are allotted, the students will have to pay the seat acceptance fee of INR 5000 online to download their allotment letter. Next, they will have to report to their respective college to for document verification and tuition fee payment.
